Baby slowed down at 40 weeks?

morning!

I was due yesterday and baba had a quiet day, I was exhausted too I even had a nap which I never do, I had a bath last night and she was wriggling about but she seems to be a bit quiet today aswell, throughout my whole pregnancy she's seemed to have a couple if quiet days then a mental one so it's not really out of the ordinary, I think I'm just noticing everything as I'm so eager to go into labour!!

Do they tend to slow down before it all kicks off?

Any change in baby's usual movements is a concern and should be checked out.

Northernlurker · 13/04/2012 13:07

You need to call your midwife now and if she can't get to you or you get to her straight away to check on the baby then you should call your labour ward and arrange to come in for monitoring. Do NOT dither about this, do not hesitate or think you'll give it longer. Just get the health of your baby checked today. don't panic, chances are she's perfectly fine but this MUST be checked and there's no downside to getting it checked.

Please ring NOW or go to A&E. Don't listen to old wives tales about things slowing down before delivery.

FoofFighter · 13/04/2012 13:09

not A&E, labour ward sorry

Northernlurker · 13/04/2012 13:20

I'm hopiong OP hasn't been back because she's on the phone now

TheEpilator · 13/04/2012 13:50

Should def get baby monitored asap, but yes, my DD did stop moving the day before she was born, as did DN apparently, so its not an 'old wives' tale'.

Don't panic, but do get it checked.

MillyStar · 13/04/2012 14:01

I've heard it quite a bit and I know deep down she's absolutely fine!

I'll be so glad when I've had her and this daily paranoia is gone, saying that I will be sat by her basket all night then checking she is breathing ok lol

OH is home in 30 mins so I'm gonna get him to take me to get checked to put my mind at rest. Thanks ladies

Glad you are getting checked out, but seriously, if there's a next time please don't leave it so long eh? Go right away.

Hurrah! Smile

Thanks for updating. Good luck with the labour - sure that's impending. Don't hesitate to go back if she goes quiet again.
