Cot mattress

Am going to do a "baby shop" today and plan to buy a cot mattress. However, have just been on the John Lewis website and they seem to range from £30 to £180! Don't mind spending a bit of money on something like this, but what is the best type to get? Any recommendations?

And also, are the only sheets I need for the cot just a couple of fitted sheets for the mattress? Planning to use growbags as soon as we can.

hi

I've been looking at john Lewis and going for the spring mattress which is £65 I've been reading the reviews and this has good ones, the foam ones seem to say there good forocassional use. ive always had a spring one i think there a bit thicker, the way i.look at it is the baby is quite tiny and not very heavy so shouldn't need the most expensive I've never gone for the most expensive and my boys have slept theirs till they were 2ish and never seemed uncomfortable. the £65 one has a washable cover a also a section to protect from nappy accidents it does recommend going in to have a look. jl have received good reviews for their advice so have a chat with them x happy shopping

Hi
I spent a bit more as I went for a JL sprung one for my cot bed. Its been great for my DD through to about 2.5yrs.

Does anyone know if you have to have a new mattress per child?

at spending that much a second time!

the guidelines say to have a new one if the old one has been stored???? I've been given one this time and decided id rather not take the risk if something was to happen id be gutted it was because id used the old one, im getting a sprung cot mattress for £65 from jl

I bought mine from JL too - I just the cheapy foam one to start with, for a cot-bed. I couldn't really see the benefit of one type over another.

I'm going to use fitted sheets and a gro-bag thingy.
