34+3, anaemic, so taking two tablets a day since last week. I really hate being constipated as it is let alone being so close to labour.

With the end weeks with DD I could go to toilet fine considering i was anaemic then but wasnt on iron as my drs didnt tell me until after i had her.

That day i had her (8:33pm) I remember going to loo that morning. very easily. thats probably why I didnt poo in labour?

Thats another thing. If i'm constipated when i go into labour its just going t omake it worse, and i really dont want to poo! especially if im using the pool!

Could you take Spatone instead? I think that might be gentler on the insides.

The tablets are buggers for causing constipation - liquid iron forms (Feroglobin B12 or Spatone) seem to be much better at not blocking you up, but don't come on prescription.

The other thing is, you're likely to poo in labour constipation or not, at least if you've been suffering from constipation it's more likely to be firm and easy for them to whip out with a sieve Wink

I was taking spatone but Dr has given me the tablets as i need to be topped up ready for labour due to last PPH. :(

I now more fluids will help, bt just so uncomfortable.

Can't you take more spatone instead? With orange juice as its meant to work better then.
I hated the tablets.

Liquid iron is meant to absorbed more easily than the tablets too - I had a 700ml PPH first time and have been taking Feroglobin this time. Perhaps have another chat with the GP?

Liquid iron is your friend. The Feroglobin is brilliant. I would definitely go back to the GP.
Have you tried kiwi- I think you need to way eat the skin too ( I was at the point I really didn't care, I just wanted to go!) apricots- the ones without sulphur- the darker looking ones.
Lactulose- it's a softener...I was prescribed it in pregnancy but again check with GP just incase.

sorry I don't know where that way came from!

Liquid iron plus M&S muesli with extra dried fruit was my friend.

Docs don't seem to get the difference liquid iron can make. When I told one OB I would take that instead of tablets he said "it's all exactly the same". Doubt he'd ever been pregnant, anaemic and bunged up though...
