I'm 23 weeks feeling very tired and have restless legs :( I was just wandering can I get a iron supplement or should I really see a doctor and get my iron levels checked? In my last 2 pregnancies I've had low iron levels and had been prescribed iron tablets. I don't really eat anything high in iron either. So was wandering has anyone brought iron tablets without seeing a doctor.

Er, yes - anywhere that sells vitamins...

(but it's not a bad idea to get your levels checked, and a GP can prescribe them. And then they are free.)

Flouroix is better - non constipating and generally good for you.

You can buy Spatone in Boots (I recommend getting it delivered on a 3 for 2 offer though as it's quite heavy). It's actual water from a spring in Wales that produced water with a very high iron content. I find it's the only iron supply I can tolerate, tablets just wreak havoc with my innards, but not spatone.

And yes you really should get your levels checked before taking random supplements in pregnancy- ask your midwife! She can do the blood tests.
