There was an airfreshener that I had a real yen for when I was pregnant with the DTs. It's so sickly sweet that I can't abide it now... but I used to go to the supermarket and test spray it all the time.

mines bleach - but only diluted and once i've cleaned the floor or something with it. if u're worried I'd say talk to ur m/w althou i'd prob advise against actually directly 'sniffing' as it were of the stuff u've mentioned

Strange! I had the opposite and couldn't abide certain smells (eg.fridges, or rather their contents!) but I have heard of this before. The things you crave are very strong, headache inducing smells though -do you not get headaches as a result?

Petrol smell was one of the few things that would help cure my morning sickness.
sure it can do harm to the baby if you go around inhaling this stuff all the time, not a craving to give into.

I had a real nasal craving for a toilet cleaner. Had to avoid it obviously but it was a very strong craving. The craving went after the pregnancy had finished. Bizarre!

my SIL loved tar while she was pregnant - even to the extent she nicked a bit from a road building site and kept it in a little tub so that she could have a quick sniff whenever she needed to . Her baby is now 8 and perfectly normal. (I like the smell of tar and creasote anyway - but don't feel the need to keep a pot handy !)

I think the technical name for it is pica and it is fairly common.

i had a thing for the smell of matches.....but then i like the smell of matches anyway, it just got to be a total craving when i was pg.
