Pregnancy

Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

If you had morning sickness in one pregnancy, did you suffer in other pregnancies? And was there a gender link?

I am just wondering as we plan DC3 and I dread another miserable three/ four months.

First two pregnancies were girls. With both I was horribly nauseated constantly from 5-16 weeks. Threw-up a bit but mainly just felt appalling.

Anyone have a later pregnancy with no sickness?

Had zero sickness with DS!!

Been awful this time - waiting to find out sex. I'm convinced its a girl :)

QED · 10/04/2012 12:19

Was horribly sick with DS

Then I was horribly sick with DD

I think I am sick when pregnant whether a boy or a girl.

ceebeegeebies · 10/04/2012 12:19

Pregnancy 1 - felt constantly nauseous and couldn't stomach food for most of the day in the early weeks (I lost a stone!) though I was only sick a couple of times - it was a boy.

Pregnancy 2 - felt nauseous on and off but nowhere near as bad as first time around. I craved stodge such as cheese and salty stuff like crisps and eating these actually made me feel better. Wasn't sick at all - it was another boy!

So different but both boys so I don't think there is a gender link Grin

Sick with dd 1 had to go into hospital

Sick with dd2 had to go into hospital

And pregnant with 3rd had sickness but managed to stay at home not half as bad as with girls and I'm having a boy

So don't think it is to do with gender :)

Baby Boy 1 - great pregnancy - Only felt sick if I hadent eaten for a while so was only sick once because of that reason

Baby Boy 2 - pretty muc the same as the first

Baby Boy 3! - Horrible, felt sick up until 15 weeks, was sick on numerous occassions, felt awful most of the time and had to have anti sickness tablets!
Now 21 weeks and started to feel sicky again :( just hoping not as bad!

This is really interesting. I'm expecting dc3 and was really sick with dd's but don't feel so bad this time. I've been worrying it's because there's something wrong but maybe not.

I've never felt tiredness like this though...

mamij · 10/04/2012 13:33

DD1 - nothing

DD2 - nauseous and sick for 15 weeks.

MoaningMinnieRisesAgain · 10/04/2012 13:34

Only a tiny bit of morning sickness each time, one boy and one girl.

DD1 - sick every morning on nearly every Victoria line stations platforms on my way to work until about 14 weeks.

DS1 - sick only 3-4 times in total until about 12 weeks.

DS2 - no sickness at all

DD2 - no sickness at all.

I think I just got better at being pregnant!! Grin

FairyPenguin · 10/04/2012 13:46

Pregnancy 1: nauseous all day, sick at least twice a day for weeks 4-12 -girl.

Pregnancy 2: only sick about twice in total, nauseous in the evenings on and off for weeks 6-10(ish). Boy. Was very very tired, exhausted in first trimester although probably down go having a 2yo to look after too.

Have known a few friends who were also much more sick with their girls and not boys.

Who knows?!

LittleWhiteWolf · 10/04/2012 13:54

Sick with DD in first pregnancy from between 9-16 weeks. Nausea plus sickness, which did relieve the nausea.
This pregnancy with DC2 (I don't know the gender yet, not til its born) has been full of nausea, but no actual sickness. Its sometimes got to the point where I wish I could have just been sick to alleviate the nausea. Lots of people have tried to convince me that this baby MUST be a boy because I've not suffered with morning sickness Hmm

terilou87 · 11/04/2012 15:29

I had sickness all the way through with my first which was a boy my next i has no sickness which was girl and no sickness with last also a girl with this one i have been really bad iv had to be signed off work tho i have a feeling this mite be twins got to wait for scan in two weeks to be sure cant wait!!

ellenjames · 11/04/2012 15:36

bad morning sickness with dd (first)
Nothing with ds 1 and 2 x

Limelight · 11/04/2012 15:41

No patterns I'm afraid:

Pregnancy 1: DS - sick until about 5 months pg

Pregnancy 2: MC twins - more sick than I've ever felt ever ever until I lost them at 12 weeks.

Pregnancy 3: DD - sick from very early on until DD was about 2 days old! I did have a week's break when I was 20 weeks though.

Morning sickness is rubbish!

Fishandjam · 12/04/2012 10:32

Pregnancy with DS - felt dreadfully sick but actually only threw up 3-4 times in total. Eased off at 10 weeks.

Current pregnancy with DD - sickness much worse. Thew up 4-5 times a day. Eased off at 14 weeks and still comes back if I do things like brush my back teeth too vigorously Confused

I think it's just (bad) luck of the draw as to whether you do or don't get it!

BikeRunSki · 12/04/2012 10:35

Hyperemisis and hospital with both. One boy, one girl. No more!

wickedfairy · 12/04/2012 18:36

DS - sick all through (about 20 times per day, all day). Was even sick after the birth and needed anti-sickness injections. DS was born at 34 weeks

DD - sick up until 6.5 months (again, about 20 times a day)

DC3 - currently about 10 weeks pg and only sick a few times a day! Feel awful though and am worried something is wrong, as sickness not as severe as before.... Will keep fingers crossed and wait for my scan.

So, I don't think it's gender based as have 1 of each already and was badly sick for both of them! Good luck!

Chunkychicken · 12/04/2012 22:55

DD - great pregnancy, a bit 'travel sickness' type nausea, mainly in the morning, off tea until about 14wks. Rarely vomited.

DC2 - still too early to say, but much worse, sick all day, vomiting on average once a day. I'll let you know in Nov whether its linked to the baby's sex...

KitCat26 · 13/04/2012 09:47

DD1 Was sick from 6-14 wks, more travel sickness feeling-not good with an hours drive to work and back and also any sort of raw meat set me off.

DD2 Was sick from 6-15wks, much worse and lost about half a stone. I put that down to extra tiredness from looking after DD1 who was still quite little (under 1)

I have two friends expecting no 2, their first were boys and they've both had completely different pregnancies so can't wait to find out what arrives this time.
