OK, 1st time ever done this.
I'm a 26/F I have been on dianette since I was 21, I was always very good at taking my pill at the same time everyday. 8.30am. Recently I have been more lacks with taking it 9.30am, 10.15am or 12pm. I have only being this for a couple of months.

I thought I was pg, My BF and I has sex on the last pill day(@night) so no pill in the morning. I had UTI the same morning and was put on a course of 6 antibiotics
My last withdrawal bleed was 2 days late. Shoulda been on Wednesday, but turned up on Friday - 2 days before I started my next pack. Its wasn't a heavy AF.

Nearly 3 weeks on, these last couple of days I have woken to nausea, cramping, a little loose poo, feeling tired, loss of appetite and this morning feeling really warm in a stone cold room. for the last 3 weeks I have slightly constipated - but nothing awful.

Am I just panicing over nothing, I have stopped taking my pill in case I am.
Thanks for reading.

You can get pregnant even while taking the pill, and the chances are higher if you're not taking it regularly. Can you take an early test?

I am honestly really scared to, I'll try and get one tomorrow - babysitting sibling and live really rurally. I never missed a day - just the times varied from day to day due to stress and busyness.

You need to take a test.

lalabaloo · 10/04/2012 14:42

You could be, no form of contraceptive is 100% I'm afraid, but if the latest you took the pill was 3 and a half hours later than normal I would have thought that was okay, have you checked the packet information? The only way to tell for sure is to take a test and then if you Stoll feel unsure see your gp

I fell pregnant whilst taking the dianette contraceptive pill. I took it correctly, no missed pills, no interference from any other medication. My son is 15 today! I recommend you find out ASAP as I was warned that brand of contraceptive can cause issues for the foetus due to the high testosterone levels in the pill. I hope everything works out well for you.

You really have to bite the bullet and do a test. You need to know, and it's the only way to find out.

Thank you everyone for all your help. Your right I have to do a test, I'm afraid it will say negative, but later on find out that I am PG, and have done damage to the baby.
As I know dianette leads to birth defects, I also know that sometime if your on dianette you need a blood test done to find out your PG, cuz of the hormones in the pill muck up home tests.

Tangfasticlady you are a very lucky woman and happy birthday to your son! :)

I think I threw out this 3 month course packet out - as I thought I wouldn't need it cuz I have been on it for so long.... tehehe.....stupid me.

I will take all your advice and take a test tomorrow and book an appointment with my GP, for a 2nd opinion and ask for a bloods.

Thanks

Maybe stop taking it and make sure 100% that your not pregnant if it can cause problems with the baby. I've never heard of this pill so don't know much but surely if you stop taking it, then find out 100% your not preg you would be able to start again. Just ensure you use precautions with other contraceptives such as condoms and be extra vigilant with this?

I have PCOS, Polycystic ovary syndrome, the dainette is a hormone regulator. As I have to much testosterone, it also doubles as a contraceptive by fooling my body into thinking thats its pregnant already. Hormonally but I don't get pregnancy symptoms.

If I am pregnant it would be a miracle, as the pcos effects fertility. So never thought it would be an option with out IVF. Never felt all these symptom all at once before so if my body thats fooled already is showing lots of signs - makes me think.

Whatever the outcome I will be happy as I am so not sure if we can cope with a surprise baby, but kinda want a BFP cuz of my condition.

I have taken the home test this morning, it was negative. I think I will be going to the GP just to make sure.
