Dealing with tiredness

Hi all!
This is my first post on here and I don't really use any other forums so please be gentle with me :)

I am about 8 weeks (I think) and I am so tired all the time. So much so that when I get in from work, I sit on the sofa and cannot physically move - I've even fallen asleep at 8pm some nights and sleep right through to the next morning!

Is this normal??

Also, I work in an extremely busy pharmacy (we're also short staffed) where I hardly get a minute for a break and sometimes don't get my lunch break until about 2pm! I don't know how long I can keep this up!

Has anyone any suggestions on how to survive (lol!)? I dread going to work each day as I just haven't got the energy to stand at the moment , nevermind work!

Thanks xx

Don't worry, the tiredness in the first trimester is normal, I wanted to sleep all the time, I could go to bed at 8pm and wake up the following morning at 10am on week ends and have a nap after lunch....Don't be ashamed, don't worry
Hopefully you will feel better when you reach 12 weeks... Only 4 weeks to go :)
Congrats on the pg

I've been wondering about this too, am at 13 weeks and still bloody knackered! Was hoping it would have eased off by now Sad

Must be harder for you though if you're on your feet all day. hopefully once you have shared your news at work they may be able to accommodate a bit.

Did everyone else's tiredness disappear by 12 weeks - I'm hoping that it will get better at SOME point! X

I am 37 weeks and have been exhausted for the last 4 or 5 weeks. My tiredness has only just started though, I was fine in 1st and 2nd trimesters.

My iron levels are good, I take Floravital iron supplement as it's easily absorbed by the body.

Swings and roundabouts as to when the tiredness strikes, but my during my 1st pregnancy (this is DS3!) I was utterly knackered for the first few weeks, but fine after that.

Only 3 weeks to go...!!!

I'm 23+2 and am still absolutely shattered all the time Confused, didn't have any sickness or sore boobs etc... so got off lightly with most symptoms, but my goodness the tiredness has more than made up for it...!

You probably didn't want to hear that :o

I'm sure i'm a one-off!

Glad to know I'm not alone! Should I be taking any supplements - whether it be for energy or anything else?

I have told the people I work with so I'm sure they would be fine with me resting but I feel a bit guilty when I do have five! I'm just glad I'm not being sick too - nausea is bad enough!

Good luck MummyPocPoc - not long now!

Supplements - take Floradix Iron & Vitamin supplement (cheapest place to get it is Amazon), try to avoid supermarket vits as they are not really absorbed by the body.

Also try Flaxseed capsules for Omega, as they're good for baby's brain development.

The iron supplement does really help, if I don't take it for a couple of days then I am even more tired!

I'm going to ask the mw about testing my iron levels next time - hoping there might be a reason for this constant tiredness!

Doesn't the iron supplements make you constipated though? I could do without any help in that department!

MummyPocPoc · 10/04/2012 00:50

Floradix (or Spatone) don't make you constipated at all.

I got iron from my midwife, and although it was a massively high dosage it didn't really do anything for my iron levels. It actually made my bum bleed!!! Blush Herbal iron is not a high dosage, but your body just absorbs it immediately which is great Smile

My GP (who is very good) told me that NHS vits etc are just cheap shite basically.
