Nesting?

Hiya, I'm 37+2 & think nesting has begun either that or iv turned into a clean freak. Iv done 5 loads of washing today - including all my towels & sheets even ones that wernt in need of washing, iv cleaned the house top to bottom, moving and lifting stuff I know I shouldn't really be doing. DP is home from Sandhurst (Army) next week and isn't going to have a clue where anything is it's all been moved!

I'm guessing this is the nesting instinct kicking in?

2questions though, does nesting make you want everything new? Iv been looking online for stuff for the home that I really want/need and have had to use some serious will power not to buy loads - not baby things, just well lots really. I moved into this house 6 months ago & it's stressing me out today that it's not exactly how I want it already, feel like it should be perfect - and yes im aware baby will not care if my living room doesn't have the big mirror or side lamp I want! Please tell me I can put these feelings down to nesting hormones?

Also iv heard these feelings kick in just before labour!!!! What have your experiences been? Any truth in it? I need another week at least not quite ready for the little mans arrival yet!

Thanks Hayley xxx

Yes, that's nesting.

It doesn't mean labour is imminent though, I've had 3 or 4 bouts of nesting, starting at 26 weeks. I'm currently 40+5. DD was 40+16. I had a very tidy house!

Phew glad it doesn't mean babies on the way in the next day or 2. My mum panicked me as with me & my brother she got a crazy bout of energy, cleaned everything in site and went into labour the next day! Wish I would have had a few bouts of this - iv been so exhausted my house has been totally neglected. Making up for it now though lol.
Hope your baby comes very soon xx

Thanks :)

Of course, just because I didn't go into labour straight off doesn't mean you won't have yours soon...you ARE full term after all! Wink
