I was wondering the same thing recently. From the research I did, dying is fine, although highlights that don't touch the head are best or henna colour. Most people suggest leaving it till after 12 weeks, but there is very little evidence about it yet. Perming on the other hand I've heard is not good. I think it uses the same chemicals as hair relaxing and I've read that those are best avoid completly. I'm no expert, it's just what I turned up. Obviously your hair also acts differently so you might get an odd reaction.

In a pregnancy book I have it says to ring the manufacturer of the hair product... I use nice and easy so rang their help line and they said its ok to use their products whilst pregnant but to do a skin test 24 hrs before even though id been using the same product for over 4 years..i did this and all was ok and have bee dyein my hair throughout my pregnancy (now 22 weeks)... i usually dye my own but get my sis to at the mo and breath into a towel so im not inhaling any fumes..keep the windows wide open...x

Oh dear. My friend's all excited because she's getting a free cut and perm by being a hairdresser's model for his final exam. She's also all excited becuase she's just discovered that she's pg.
