Recommendations please!! First Response or Clearblue

Hi,

I am due AF on Sunday and want to test Saturday as we are at the out laws sunday (possible need for wine :lol:)

I have had one VERY faint, could have been imagined line with FR, have some but not many symptoms.

Which do people recommend to use....I have a clearblue digital and a FRER???

I have twice tested early with clearblue digital and got a "pregnant" result each time so would recommend them. I also think having a digital display which clearly says not pregnant/pregnant is much easier than trying to discern whether there is indeed a line. If you've already had a faint line though it sounds like congratulations are in order!

FRER. They are very reliable in my experience and more sensitive than CB.
However, if you get a convincing line on FR tomorrow, then dip the clearblue in the same sample if you like. Make sure it is nice and concentrated - peeing in a cup is better than peeing on the stick when you are testing early.

I would definitely recommend FRER above clear blue - tested a couple of days early with a clear blue and got the disheartening 'not pregnant' - DS (2) is charging around as I type!

First response, clear blue digital took an extra 5 days to show up as pregnant.

I wouldn't recommend either..I tested with both clear blue and first response, got negatives, got cheap asda/tesco brand ones and got positives :D

May I ask how I make sure my wee is concentrated KatandKit? Do you just mean a morning wee? Thanks. Great idea with the cup though, never thought of that!

I used both when testing. I used first response first and the same as you I got the faintest line, we kept holding it up to the window to check! The next morning I did a clear blue digital and it was so much more reassuring to have the words 'pregnant' pop up good luck!!!

Usually a first morning wee is concentrated enough. however if you don't drink masses in the afternoon and hold it in for a while then you can get a good sample in the afternoon/evening if necessary.

Just evaluate it by looking at the colour. If it is very pale rather than nice and yellow don't waste a stick on it!

FR this morning and nothing, not a sniff of a line.....waiting for AF now, boo!

I got a 'not pregnant' on CB the day before AF was due, but then got a very feint line on a super drug early test the next day! Got a positive on CB digital the day after AF was due...am 6 weeks today, good luck!

No worries DangerMousey. AF is due tomorrow, its SO hard not to get my hopes up after everyones stories of BFN when they actually are pregnant. Im just hoping for next month, trying to stay positive :-)

Hi, I am in EXACTLY the same situation as you! I had a bfp yesterday on first response and then today had a bfn on clear blue digital. I will be testing tommorow using a first response and if necessary clearblue digital and a superdrug cheapy if you want to join me and test again :)

I used Superdrug ones and they picked up way before AF was due - very faint at 10DPO, then clear as a bell by 12DPO - cheap as chips too and very reliable.

Hi everone. Myself (Mr) and my partner are trying at the moment so we have tried a couple of the ovulation tests. We have had a particularly bad experience with Clearblue digitial ovulation test. As soon as we read the manual we were disappointed as it seems that there are a whole host of things that can go wrong with the test 'holder' and despite my partner following the instructions to the letter, our kit stopped working after only a couple of days for no apparent reason.

When you buy this particular test, you get the electronic holder and either 10 or 20 tests but if something goes wrong you have no choice but to go and buy another kit (for another £30) even though you only need a new test holder which shouldn't have broken in the first place. We complained directly to ClearBlue and they have made the returns process as difficult as possible (presumably hoping that we wont bother).

After discussing the issue with an obstetrician friend, he said that a recent study had shown that the most effective way to get pregnant is not using these tests but instead having sex approx 3 times a week so I think that is what will be doing from now on, saving a lot of money in the process!

I wish we had known this fact before handing over our money!

So here's my story. Husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last 2 months only. I'd been on the pill for the last 10 years and thought for sure we wouldn't conceive for awhile still. I was due on sunday to begin my period and nothing came. I didn't think too much of it but bought a couple First Response Digital pregnancy tests anyways with the intent of taking it in a week if I still hadn't started. Well on a whim, the Monday morning, I decided what the hell, might as well take one. A few minutes later, my result said positive. At this point I was shocked it happened so fast. So I told my husband and went to the clinic. The clinic took.a test and first told me it was negative and asked why I thought I was pregnant. After explaining to him my situation and showing the results of my test, a very definite yes +, he said he trusted my test more and went to recheck his test, which he said oh there's a faint line. He schedule me for blood work and told me to go see my doctor. That night I went to bed, still hardly believing the situation. I woke up at 2 and needed to pee again, so to see if it was real or not, I took the second first response test. Again it came back positive. I went about my day, got my blood work done. I had always been miticulous about charting my periods, ovulating amd intercourse so I figured i was only about a month along according to my last period. Got a little more excited and even built up the nerves to tell my family we were expecting. Now, I had bought the clear blue weeks indicator test just to confirm my suspicions as to how far along I am. Although it said first morning pee, I took it at 2 am again when my body woke up. But this time, it said not pregnant. I'm trying to stay calm but now I'm starting to doubt this pregnancy. 1 positive, 1 false negative, 1 positive, 1 negative. What do I do?

wildfire613 The exact same thing happened to my friend ( who is now 21 weeks pregnant). tests at home were positive but negative at the doctors clinic. after 3 sets of blood work & internal scan she was given a due date. hcg levels were just too low initially. best of luck

I'm really unsure what to do. I have been feeling bloated, a bit sick, back ache. Today is my due date, I tested negative with a clear blue, after reading the reviews I got a first response and it was still negative. Anyone been in a similar situation.

Hi Emma. It's possible to get a false negative because you can be pregnant but the level of hcg hormone in your blood isn't high enough to register on the test.

Best to wait a few days and then test again (with FRER). Is your period late?

FRER or Superdrug own brand.

I had used
Galpharm Pregnancy Test Kit -it cost £1.49 from Ocado for a pack of three.

This test showed me positive while at the same time Boots own brand shown negative -both with the same evening urine sample.
First thing in the morning the next day both were positive (and the subsequent 5 of all other brands I bought to reassure myself....)

It's hard but in some cases the only thing you can do is wait a bit
The test leaflet has also a list of reasons why it could show false positive-worth checking.
