Am 9 weeks tomorrow and had brown loss at 8 weeks when i wiped for a few times, brown loss yesterday all day when I wiped, and now today red blood like a light AF.

Scan booked for tomorrow morning but in the meantime am feeling very scared and really need to hear your stories of bleeding and the outcomes (especially good ones!)

i had a big bleed of bright red at 8 weeks. was terrified.

went to A&E, lovely lady Dr. found cervix to be closed. had injections due to Rh factor issues, sent home.

reassurance scan next morning showed lovely strong heartbeat.

all is not lost. {hugs}

Hi OP.

Pregnancy one, bled at 6 weeks Quite heavy, scan at 7 weeks everything okay, now a chocolate covered DD 2.5

Pregnancy two, didn't realise i was pregnant till 8 weeks, light AF as normal at 4 weeks, felt a little off so took a test started with bleeding that night bright red again. I am 40+2 today

Try not to panic, good luck.

Hi, I have good news stories for you.

I started bleeding at 8 weeks, started brown then got red, no pain though. Had a scan the next day and baby was fine, heartbeat going like the clappers! They couldn't see a reason for the bleeding but midwife suggested as I was 8 weeks (ie my period would have been due then) it could have been breakthrough bleeding.

A week later, DH and I had (very gentle, loving!) sex and after wards there was absolutely loads of red blood, it was terrifying. We went to A&E (as instructed by midwife) and a Dr examined me who said I had a polyp on my cervix which was likely to be causing the bleeding. A scan 2 days later confirmed all was well.

I am now 11+6 weeks.

I really, really hope it is good news for you too.

PickleSarnie · 05/04/2012 16:09

I had a massive bleed at 11 weeks. Like a really heavy period for two days. Turns out I had a haematoma. A pretty big one. Had two weeks of brown blood when I wiped and scans have shown the clot has shrunk significantly. I'm 21 weeks now and all seems fine.

Best of luck x

nickelhasababy · 05/04/2012 16:11

best wishes to you.

my friend had huge bleeding early on - not sure, but it was about 9 weeks (she wasn't sure of conception date)
she even dropped a couple of massive clots into the toilet (her mw was annoyed that she'd not kept them)
she had a scan and the foetus was moving around like mad, heartbeat etc.

i'd seen positive stories on mn before but i didn't dare share them with her in case it wasn't good.

i really hope the best for you.

Liveinthepresent · 05/04/2012 16:13

I had two spells of bleeding in early pregnancy - a bit later than you about 16 weeks - terrifying but midwives were not really concerned either time - no other complications and now I have a gorgeous 1yr old DD Grin

MarieFromStMoritz · 05/04/2012 16:14

I have been bleeding almost continuously since 6 weeks pregnant. I have a sub chorionic hematoma. I am nearly 14 weeks now, and everything was fine at my 13 week scan.

FoeufFighter · 05/04/2012 16:15

So lovely to hear these and just what I need to counteract all the bad outcomes I've been reading of, doesn't do you any good at all but can't seem to stop looking.
Please please keep them coming!

I am 7+2 and had brown spotting at 5+5 every day almost every wipe in the afternoon and evening until 6+5. Went for a scan and saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks and have another scan at 8 weeks which is on Tuesday. I think it is very common, the body getting rid of old blood. The funny thing is that while I was having the spotting my ms got really bad. I had no spotting and no ms with ds1. Prob a big fat coincidence. Do try not to worry to much and try not to ask dr google. There's an old thred that someone posted on recently about brown spotting. I will see if I can find it.

Thechick · 05/04/2012 16:24

I didn't even notice it was you foeuf. Ill try and find that old post!

This really helped put my mind at ease www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/57268-brown-discharge-in-early-pregnancy-anyone-else-had-this

FoeufFighter · 05/04/2012 16:37

Hi chick :) I'm not overly concerned at the brown blood just it's gone read, will look at the thread x

I had a big red sudden bleed with both my DS's around about 7/8 weeks. The second worse than the first I thought I had wee'd myself until I saw the massive pool of blood where I was sitting.

In both cases I had to wait a day or two for a scan at the early pregnancy unit and had convinced myself of the worst possible outcome happily both DS's were found to be fine the cause for DS1 is unknown but had a haematoma with DS2.

With the first after the initial blood loss that was it but with the second I bled for about 3 months after the initial bleed.

It is really scary to see the blood but is actually quite common. Best of luck x

PoppyS34wantsminieggs · 05/04/2012 17:23

I had bleeds at 6wks, 8wks and have just had another one at 22wks. Not pleasant at all and incredibly worrying, but hopefully you'll get to see that LO is all ok on scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. x

I had a bright red bleed on the day of my 12 week scan - horrifying and felt so unfair. Went in for scan anyway and baby was completely unruffled. Had brown a few weeks later but again, all fine.

I had brown bleeding at about 7 weeks. Mentioned it to midwife and she wasn't too concerned. A few nights later later was out for dinner with dh on Saturday night, went to toilet and when I wiped there was red blood. I nearly collapsed! Convinced it was another m/c I went home and cried and screamed. Of course this would have to happen on a Saturday so had to wait till the Monday morning to phone EPU. They checked me out and it turned out that I had a grazed cervix, which the midwife explained was a bit like having a skint knee but on your cervix!. I'm sure all will be well tomorrow, please let us know how you get on xxx

foeuf - I tried to add earlier I so wish I had known about MN when I was in this situation - and I had no idea how common it was!

Hope you are feeling a lot more relaxed - sleep well and let us know how you get on.

Pancakeflipper · 05/04/2012 22:05

Another happy outcome from me.

Pregnancy 1: bled from 9 weeks for 2 weeks. Bright red.

Pregnancy 2: bled from 8 weeks on and off for the entire pregnancy. Bright red. Sometimes needed to wear a sanitary towel.

Both pregnancies ended with easy-peasy births and gorgeous boys.

Hope all goes well for you.

laughingGnomette · 06/04/2012 04:19

I had brown spotting at 6ish weeks and heavier red bleeding for 2 days at 14 weeks. I didn't even realise I was pregnant at 6 weeks but was completely terrified at 14 weeks.

It was absolutely fine though, had a scan the same day and as others have experienced, sometimes blood just pools around the womb and gets expelled. You could see it on my scan. I'm now 37 weeks and being kept awake (argh, its 4am!) by a very wriggly, healthy baby.

The sonographer said that they are more concerned with bleeds that occur with cramps and back ache but it's always best to get these things checked out to put your mind at rest.

babybunintheoven · 06/04/2012 09:51

I am currently 10 weeks, I have bled 3 times so far in this pg, first 2 at 6 and 7+4 weeks, bright red blood and was convinced I'd lost it both times but scans showed baby and sac growing normally. I had another bleed at 8+6 (darker blood) and scan yesterday showed baby is still fine, even wriggling.

They could see on the scan where blood is coming from and told me it is prob due to small membranes rupturing as my uterus grows and is nothing to worry about.

It is terrifying, but you have to stay positive. There are many reasons that can cause bleeding that will not affect baby.

Good luck today!!
