Awful nightmares

Is anyone else having terrible dreams. Last night I dreamt I had lost my luggage on the way to meeting my grandma and I was late and then two dreams about capsizing and drowning and going over massive waterfalls etc. I am 28 wks gone and dread going to sleep at the moment, though it is becoming less comfortable as I wander round the house at night trying to find somewhere where it doesn't hurt!

Yes - I had similar! My baby is now 20 weeks - two I remember were being chased by a giant Lego man in Tescos and being eaten by an enormous pot plant! Both felt really real and really scared me at the time. The bad dreams had stopped by 30 weeks. Best of luck xxx

Snap, I have been having bad dreams where I am desp trying to get somewhere and can't, or being chased, or DH leaving me ! Don't know what these say about my subconcious worries, etc....

Hiya

I too am going through the same, some very frightning. I don't really know why but my body gets really tense and I end up waking up in cold sweats sometimes.

Is this just part of the hormones us pregnant ladies have in our bodies at the mo.

alicats · 06/02/2006 14:45

sorry I don't know why missed the word "don't"

runtus · 06/02/2006 17:12

Me too - very common apparently...........not alot you can do.

I am trying to ensure i watch something really nice and comforting before bed so we've had a bit of a Love Actually and 4 Weddings marathon at our place!

Anything remotely scary/sad/worrying or upsetting and I am haunted for days!

I'm only 9 weeks but I've been having very vivid dreams recently - and a few nightmares. I remember this from the last 2 times; it's exhausting!

I had a dream I lost ds and dd at the swimming pool and was terrified they had drowned...I was so glad to wake up....

I remeber having really vivid erotic dreams from my other pregnancies - that was a lot better

Dreaming your DH leaves you or you've lost your children is v. common when pregnant.

I dreamt my dh was sleeping with both of my sisters. Was still very cross with him (for days) after I woke up. Also dreamt that my whole extended family moved to another country without leaving any forwarding address.

I think it was partly anxiety about the way the baby would affect all of my existing relationships. In a way it was me 'leaving' them as I became more and more preoccupied with the baby.

The bath can be comfortable if nowhere else is...

Wallace · 06/02/2006 18:23

Gosh that makes a lot of sense - I am of course worried about how the baby will affest the dynamics of our family, especially as we have been a cosy unit of four for a while.

beansprout · 06/02/2006 18:32

I think anxiety dreams are v common in pregnancy. It is your mind's way of processing the enormity of the change that is on the way. Still miserable but at least perfectly normal.

It's wierd this thread should appear today! I'm on my 3rd pregnancy, and never had these dreams before but last night i had 2!!!
First one;DH killed loads of people in our bedroom, and chopped them up into small pieces, and i had to put them in bags for the binmen. (WTF does that mean??)
Second one; Got attacked by a snake, it got in my coat and down my sleeves, urgh, got shivers just thinking about it! That might be because i watched "Wild At Heart" last night and the girl got bit by a snake, didn't she. Scarey though!! Woke up thrashing about and shouting, DH told me to "shut the f*ck up and go back to sleep". Lovely!!

Bit worried about going to bed tonight now!!

tegan · 06/02/2006 19:48

Last Sunday I dreamt that I had given birth to a girl then another girl then twin boy and girl and then another girl and the last one my dh took to be registered without me and he called her Lydia Grace.
Problem is I have 2 girls and am scared that if I get pg will I have twin boy and girl.
Was it an omen???

Yes. I am having horrible nightmares too. The night before last I died and saw myself walking in the snow!! Woke up really shaken. And last night I had a massive row with my sister's friends mum for talking down to my sister - I have read that it is normal though due to hormones, and that usually it passes once you get well into the 3rd trimester. This did happen last time I was pregnant too, and passed (mind you, then I was too fat to sleep comfortably so was up all night then too - LOL!

AnnaK · 07/02/2006 14:29

Good to know it is not just me then!

I keep getting dreams where I put the baby down, turn away, turn back and he is gone! Horrible, panic inducing affairs, I had several in which ds has run away, or is running towards a road...
