Drinking

I am finding it really hard to drink. I can sip ice cold water but can't drink any great quantity of it. The only thing I enjoy drinking is lucozade which is a meal in a bottle itself. Does anyone have any others things they found manageable to drink so I don't end up the size of a house?! Thanks x

I tend to drink more when using a straw, what is it that stops you from drinking do you think?
Does it make you feel to full, is it the taste of certain things, if you enjoy fizzy drinks, you can get some fizzy water and add a splash of high juice, diluted weel and very cold, thats very nice.

I was the same, water just seemed to have a horrible texture Hmm. I did just make myself down a glass occasionally. Fizzy drinks seemed to go down better, so would mix fizzy water and fruit juice, and also went through a phase of drinking nothing but homemade lemonade (v easy, and at least you know what's in it). Glad to say all that stopped at around 12 weeks, and now at 24 weeks I can drink lots of water again Smile

Squash/barley water? I craved cold fruity things when pg, and found I mostly needed to have my water flavoured. I don't know why but plain water didn't float my boat either. Would be better than heavily flavoured and coloured lucozade or other fizzy drinks with all that crap in them.

I found fruit teas good, too. You can make up a jug (with or without a little sugar for flavour) and leave it to cool then stick it in the fridge if you don't want it hot.

I'm drinking water by the gallon at work. I was drinking apple juice until I realised the 500ml bottle I got each morning was 250 calories, so I swapped that to Oasis which is much more reasonable (88 calories).

At home I've tried all sorts, mainly as a substitute for wine! Appletiser, the fizzy flavoured sugar-free waters you can usually get for 3 for a £1 at supermarkets and squash.

I can't drink plain water so I drink fizzy water at work and at home I squeeze fresh lime in with it. With lime in it I find it easy to drink quite a lot.

I'm struggling to enjoy drinks at the mo due to the MS however I have found diet tonic water & lime, or diet bitter lemon, with LOTS of ice to be very nice. The ones from Asda have sucrolose & acesulfame K as sweetener, rather than aspartame, if that's a concern. Generally though, I'll chuck some squash in the glass to at least allow me to finish something...
