I'm due next Monday and the past couple of days have been absolutely shattered and generally feeling a bit out of sorts - bit sick, dizzy, foggy-headed. Is this just the usual pre-labour/end of pregnancy niggles?
I saw the midwife a week ago and blood pressure and urine were fine, but I'm just surprised at how tired and run down I feel - I've been all go the past couple of weeks as we moved house last month and have been getting the house in order but have been fine - now I've stopped I'm wiped out!

Normal to be tired but I would get sick and dizzy checked out - it's prob fine but worth seeing a midwife.

PiggyMad · 03/04/2012 20:45

I will give her a ring tomorrow - it was after I was rushing around and hadn't eaten so probably that. I'm just worried about how I will get through labour if I'm so knackered and sofa-bound!

Absolutely wiped out describes how I was feeling last week (38-39w)!

Might be worth topping your iron up if you're knackered - either with something like Spatone or Feroglobin B12 (you can buy those in the supermarket) or with prescribed Iron tablets :)

Hi piggy how exciting. It may be the start of your labour, normal pregnancy tiredness of your iron levels have dropped.
I'm 34 weeks and have been feeling very weak and tired, but I've just finished work which was manic and started m/l so I put it down to that. But turns out I was low on folate and haemoglobin.
It's typical isn't it but you feel silly complaining of being exhausted when you're heavily pg.

Thanks ladies,
I might take a bit of extra iron - I am veggie and try to eat iron-rich foods but a bit extra can't hurt. Is it safe to take extra if I take the Sanatogen pregnancy vitamins which already contain iron?

I would definitely call your midwife to get checked out. It's almost certainly just normal end of pregnancy tiredness, but I felt abnormally tired, sick, dizzy etc at 37 weeks and it turned out I had pre-eclampsia (which was only picked up through a blood test; my blood pressure and urine results were clear).

Good luck with everything!

littlemissnormal · 04/04/2012 08:07

Yeah it should be safe; I'm on ferrous fumarole for iron and if I stop taking them I feel awful. Asked my MW if I was ok to just continue and she said better to have a bit too much iron than not enough.

I was shattered in the last month of pregnancy and could barely make it through my lunch before going to bed for a four hour sleep, and barely through dinner before going to bed for the night.

I was fine after giving birth.

stripeyZ · 04/04/2012 09:14

Hi I'm 40+2 & have been feeling the same for the last 10 days or so. I had been having a third trimester bloom before then & running around all over the place & feeling great.

Do mention it your midwife. Mine sent me for some bloods & monitoring yesterday. Turns out I'm having strong braxton hicks every 3 mins which are causing the nausea & dizziness. I think I've had them for at least a week & can feel them mostly in my throat & face Hmm The midwives thought this was a really good sign it won't be long.

I'm just surprised at how shattered I feel. Really hope I get a burst of energy once labour kicks in!

Emsgale · 04/04/2012 09:24

hrllo im 39+4 and im abasloutly exshausted have a upsett tummy headaches feeling sicky achy etc this seems to be quite common at the end reading this thread?!
I just hope its over soon I feel that rough today I was tempted to ring the midwife and see what she says but im seeing her tomorrow anyway so im sure it can wait.

stripeyZ · 04/04/2012 10:25

emsgale may be give the midwife a ring anyway if you're feeling super rough. She might be able to squeeze you in today instead.

Emsgale · 04/04/2012 10:55

stripeyZ yes maybe I will do that thanks

Hi all!
I’m due this Sunday and last night I was extremely restless, lots of braxton hicks (none at the moment) and pain in my legs. I’ve woken up the morning absolutely exhausted and tired. Could this exhaustion be a sign labor is approaching? I felt not myself last night 😫😫

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 27/01/2022 10:55

This is a very old thread, look the the date's!

However, its very normal to feel exhausted near the end, I was before my waters broke, but I'd been feeling like that for a week!
