NCT classes - location versus date

Hello all, quick question - i've got two options for NCT classes. One is 5 minutes walk from home but date wise means that baby is due the day after the final session. Second class is a 15 min bus ride away but the dates seem to coincide a lot better.

I think I'd rather meet people locally rather than who are exactly the same stage pregnancy etc...

Is it better to go a class closer to home or where dates suit better?

Thanks!

If it was me I would go with the local one in the hope you are more likely to meet people closer to you

Yeah, I think I'd go with the closer one too. If you do end up having the baby early or on time, then you'll be learning everything they'd cover first-hand anyway, I'd just talk to the teacher at the beginning and try to make sure the nitty-gritty basics of labour stages, pain relief and (if you're planning to BF) breast-feeding are covered early on, and try to get them to leave baby-care, impact on relationship or whathaveyou later on. They might be able to be flexible. OR they may even move the whole course forward a week, which is what happened with mine as we had two couples with earlier due dates.

You'll probably be feeling pretty tired in the last few weeks, a quick walk home after rather than a longer bus ride would be easier to face. And if you're feeling energetic and have the time you could invite people round to yours before or after for a cup of tea/cake if you wanted to get the social side going.

I think I'd go for the one close to where you live. It's lovely to have people close by that you can drop in on in those early months when you're tearing your hair out.

My NCT group had a span of about six weeks in birth dates. I had the latest due date by almost two weeks although I ended up overtaking the person before me in line as her baby was two weeks late. The first babies in our group were mini-celebrities and we were all very excited about them whereas babies were yesterday's news by the time mine came along!

Local - I definitely see the ladies that live more locally to me more than the ones that bit further away. One of them had their baby 3 days after the course finished - went to the pub after the last session on the Thursday, and by Saturday the first gorgeous bundle was on her way!

Thanks everyone! Think I'll book in for the one down the road. Thanks again.
