Is this colostrum?

I am 31 weeks pregnant, and my nipples leak a clear, straw coloured, but thickish fluid. Is this colostrum? And if so, I have heard you can freeze and keep it until after baby is born, so would now be a good time to start?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yep! Mine started about then. It would just dribble out all day (sorry if TMI). Per the brilliant Mears' advise, I froze it in sterile syringes. After I got to 36 weeks, I hand expressed. Wound up w/60mL in total to feed to DD2!

Excellent b/c she chewed one of my nipples the day she was born.

Yes it is, and if you want you could. It's quite useful if you want to avoid formula and your baby has low blood sugar, I believe. Never did it myself. Might have saved me some heartache with ds though.

i thought colostrum was yellow?

Yes it's colostrum.. but not sure you would have much success in expressing enough to store.. the hormones for proper colostrum/milk production won't kick in until the delivery happens. And I don't think it's necessary.. there will be plenty for the baby after the birth even though you only ever see small quanities of it. It's human Magic Food.. only a little is needed and only for a short time!

Excellent, thankyou.

yes, I was thinking about a low blood sugar scenario.

I never did any of this with ds, because I bottlefed him, and I want to give breastfeeding a go with this one. Hence me knowing nothing even though I have already had a baby
