I'm only 8 weeks pregnant and desperate for a scan just to prove to myself that there really is something in there! There's been no sickness or nausea (lucky I know!)but in a tragic kind of way I'm desperate for it to happen cos I just don't feel pregnant and since the only other symptons I'm having (extreme tiredness and sore boobs) are scoffed at by other mums generally along the lines of "are you sure its far too early for all that!" I'm feeling a bit down and pressured to conform to others idea of pregnancy!

mazzystar · 05/02/2006 15:52

oh ignore them

(and get used to ignoring them, cos they'all all have plenty more to say on the subject of your pregnancy, as will, you'll find, complete strangers, people in the street etc)

it is not too early for sore boobs, it is definitely not too early to feel tired. just be very glad not to be being sick.

and - congratulations!

pesme · 05/02/2006 15:53

its never to early to feel tired. the first trimester was teh worst for tiredness for me. as for morning sickness i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. ignore everyone else, the world becomes a collection of bl**dy pregnancy experts in the presence of a pregnant woman.

Moomin · 05/02/2006 15:53

extreme tiredness and sore boobs will do it! Try not to get yourself in a state about what you should or shouldn't be feeling. You've got clear symptoms and no periods, so you're pregnant! put your feet up, relax and enjoy not having to retch over the toilet. and congrats by the way!

Nbg · 05/02/2006 15:55

I felt just like you a few weeks back.

I expected sickness because I had it with dd but I was just getting little pangs of nausea when I was hungry so nothing too bad.

I'm 13 weeks today

Do you know when your going to see your midwife or have a date for a scan?

Twiglett · 05/02/2006 15:56

no extreme tiredeness is a huge sign in first couple of months after all you're making a baby in there .. it takes a hell of a lot of energy

don't worry about the sickness it will probably come .. or it may not

it goes so quickly .. enjoy each day

Sj1980 · 05/02/2006 16:19

Thanks guys that makes me feel so much better as I've only had negative feedback so far! I've got my first midwife appointment on tuesday but have no idea when the scan will be...does the time start to go any quicker? It really has dragged from the point of finding out (4 weeks) till now...

Nbg · 05/02/2006 16:34

Thats something to look forward to then

Your scan appt should come for 12 weeks. You might get a letter through the post.

maretta · 05/02/2006 16:42

They're wrong. In both my pregnancies, I was tired and had sore boobs from about 3 weeks
Congratulations. Do you have a date for your scan?

maretta · 05/02/2006 16:44

Sorry, obviously you don't have a scan date. Some of it does go quicker, I find the second trimester flies by.

are you due in september? why not join us on the september thread here

kreamkrackers · 05/02/2006 17:11

oh forgot to say ignore them. i had very bad tiredness and headaches with dd (my first pregnancy) and i was deffo pg! my boobs are sore this time around and i think the only sickness i've had is caused by me being plagued with illnesses this time around.

snic · 05/02/2006 17:14

i know exactly how you feel i am 11 weeks, first scan tomorrow, i cannot wait to see for myself. i've only had sore boobs and been tired too. i too wanted just a little bit of morning sickness so i was like everyone else.

blueshoes · 05/02/2006 17:37

I never had any symptoms for my pregnancies, beyond a mild tiredness and very occasionally not being able to stomach the thought of certain foods. No sign of a bump until 14 months. But had lots of spotting in the first trimester. Could never believe I was preggo

kalex · 05/02/2006 17:39

Blushoes, that was a pretty long preganancy [groin]

Aloha · 05/02/2006 17:40

They have clearly all forgotten what being pregnant is like, poor souls. The feeling that your entire body has turned to lead and your bosonms are going to explode are the first symptoms!
And I've said it before, but I think lots of us go into our first scan vaguely afraid that we will be sent home with a resounding, 'pregnant? I don't think so!' ringing in our ears. I wont' happen though

Aloha · 05/02/2006 17:41

And I never had any sickness or nausea.

blueshoes · 05/02/2006 17:41

14 weeks

WigWamBam · 05/02/2006 17:44

It's definitely not too early for sore boobs; that was my first symptom at less than three weeks. If it's any consolation I was convinced that the first scan was going to show nothing and I was going to be sent away with the sound of hysterical laughter ringing in my ears - and I'd been throwing up for weeks by that point.

If it makes them feel superior that they had morning sickness and you don't then let them feel superior; you'll be the envy of your ante natal groups if you go through the pregnancy without throwing up!

Congratulations. Everyone's pregnancy is different (and this is definitely a time for unsolicited 'expert' advice) but in my case, sore boobs were my only symptom until major nausea kicked in at around 8 weeks (not to freak you out or anything..!)

Bella23 · 06/02/2006 09:15

SJ1980 - Feel exactly the same!
I am just over 8 weeks and ended up having a little bit of cry last night with worry that I am not feeling sick!
I had a missed m/c last pregnancy so am willing away the time until 12 weeks this time. Would so love some reassuring sickness so that I can tell all is ok.
I just keep reminding myself that some people are lucky and don't get it!
Also have sore boobs so am holding onto that symptom as a winner!
Reading this thread has helped as other people saying they never felt sick either is comforting.
Hang in there xx

CarlyP · 06/02/2006 10:45

BELLA23, Y DONT YOU GO FOR AN EARLY SCAN?

if you are worried about m/c id go if i were you.

cx

Nbg · 06/02/2006 10:52

I don't think I can tell you how sick I was with my dd. Without sounding too dramatic, it was so upsetting. I couldn't do anything, it was awful.

This time round I was ringing the midwife every 2 mins convinced something wasn't right because I wasn't suffering with sickness.
It never occured to me that some women just don't get it and if you are one of those, you are very lucky

Bella23 · 06/02/2006 11:28

Carlyp - yes thanks for the advice.
I did go for an early scan at 7 weeks and all was fine. I was reassured for about 1 week and then the worry set back in.
I reckon if I could have weekly scans I would be ok !!
