Has anyone become allergic / intolerant to bananas during pregnancy?

I've had two really nasty bouts of stomach cramps this week, I realise both times I had eaten a banana shortly before feeling unwell. Both times, the pain has gone away after about 3 or 4 hours, but was really quite nasty and made me feel a bit faint. I have always eaten bananas with no problems before, but hadn't eaten one for a while before this week. I'm 38, 32 weeks pg with DC3, and this has never happened before. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

I am intolerant to bananas anyway. Have been since my teens and that's exactly what it feels like. Severe stomach cramps that have me doubled over in pain.

Can't help you if it will go away after pregnancy but I suddenly developed that reaction to them all of a sudden after years of being able to eat them.

It may not necessarily be related to pregnancy, rather something that has been developing over time? Interesting article here.
Not experienced this, but my DH can't stand the sight of bananas and his mom went off them when she was pregnancy with him! Not an intolerance but anyway...

Shit. I read intolerant to humans. I came to wholeheartedly agree.

I have no idea about bananas.

Not intolerant or allergic but pre-pregnancy I would eat a banana every day, now the smell or thought of eating one makes me feel sick.

I developed an allergy to biological wash powder at around 7DPO - it was my first pregnancy symptom! My doctor said that it's not unheard of for new allergies to develop during pregnancy - now you've worked out the trigger, time to stay away from bananas until baby is here, I think!

Thanks everyone - that's reassuring!

Detective I have always been intolerant to humans (well, some of them), and TBH it has definitely got worse with each pregnancy!

And thanks for the link capecath - that helped explain it.

I also developed an allergy to washing powder in my first pregnancy. I'm afraid it has stayed with me, and was worse in my second pregnancy...
