Im new, but need some advice. Im 10 weeks pregnant today with my 2nd child. I started bleeding on Friday lunch time, just brown spotting to begin with. The bleeding has not stopped since then and is now a bright red colour. Sorry if this is too much information! It is as if im having a period. I have had no pain at all.
I am booked in for a scan this afternoon at the early pregnancy unit. Should I prepare myself for the worst? People are telling me to stay positive but it is so hard to, I never had any bleeding with my 1st and have also never had a miscarriage. I had an early scan at 7 weeks and we could see a heartbeat.
This baby is so wanted and it will break our hearts if we are losing it :(

oh no, you must be really anxious. I had bleeding at 10 weeks with my 1st whilst we were on holiday. It lasted for about 2 days and was bright red. He is now a very cheeky 2 year old. Good luck at the hospital and keep thinking positive x

LandUnderWave · 28/03/2012 08:57

its horrible when that happens, so sorry to hear it

i bled at 10 weeks with this baby, heavy, bright red and thought the worst

had scan and all well, bleed was coming from placenta
it continued for about 4 weeks which is prob not what you want to hear but has now settled (17 weeks)

keeping fingers crossed for your scan

Oh I am so sorry you must be terrified. I don't want it give you false hope but I bled, very heavy bleeding from week 8 of my pregnancy and my son is now 4. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Please try not to panic, it is fairly common. It happened to me too - in my case it was a haematoma (a bruise/bleeding) in the womb, it gradually shrunk and disappeared and my baby was fine. I was on bed rest for 3 weeks though, so you should try and take it VERY easy until you know what it is. No strenuous anything.

Good luck Op, the fact you have no pain is a very good sign. x

Thank you so much for your replies, its nice to hear some positive cases. I have done nothing but lay i bed since the day after it started. I am trying so hard not to worry but i feel like i have to prepare myself for the worst, as i think it most likely is.
Your support means a lot to me, thank you x

There could be a lot of reasons but I'm another with a positive outcome.

I have a mahoooosive bleed at 11 weeks. All over the floor. Continued like a really heavy period for two days. Went to A&E when it started, they sent me to EPU who did a quick scan and found a heartbeat. The midwives and sonographer didn't seem unduly concerned and said it was very common.

At my scheduled nuchal scan 2 weeks later, they found a fairly large (10cm x 10cm x 3cm) clot/haematoma which would have been the cause and said they'd be surprised if I didn't bleed more. For two weeks after that scan, I had gunky brown stuff when I wiped, sometimes enough to get onto a pad (but nothing like the first incident). A follow up scan showed the clot had shrunk to less than half the original size and, touch wood, all seems to be okay now. I'm 20 weeks now.

Fingers crossed for your scan this afternoon. x

Hi
Im now 6 weeks ( if he/she is still there). Started bleeding Sunday night, dark brwon and very light. Phoned midwife in the morning she said it s just a waiting game but to call if it got heavier and I had cramps.
Last night that did happen, nothing really overnight, but bleeding today. Did another test and its still saying im pregnant but dont know if that's because mc is not complete.
Anyone else had this?

Cakeplease · 28/03/2012 12:40

Hi, I am in the same boat. Thought I was 7 weeks. Started bleeding lightly & had an early scan that dated me at 5+1..... Which could possibly be accurate from conception. HCG levels look good for that stage so I am also just waiting now. What did your m/w say? Is she going to scan you?

Fingers crossed for us all. Xx

Cakeplease · 28/03/2012 12:43

BabyBellasMummy- to reassure you I also had a bleed with dc1 at 7/8 weeks and at scan all was fine. Saw h/b etc straight away. I hope you have the same experience this afternoon. It turned out I had a low placenta & had two further bleeds at 32 & 39 weeks. DC was fine and born naturally on his due date. X

Midwife called maternity hosp and have to there tomorrow morning, hopefully for scan. preparing for worst tho...

BabyBellasMumma · 28/03/2012 16:06

I thought I would let you know that I have lost my baby. We are devastated. They couldn't find a heartbeat and the baby was measuring 9 weeks so its heart stopped beating a week ago :(
Those that are bleeding, I don't want to scare you but its a good idea to prepare for the worst just in case. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that all will be ok for you.
