anyone able to do some hand holding? 8 weeks pregnant have been bleeding over the weekend went to the EPU and they have arranged for a scan tomorrow.

Have a UTI so been given antibiotics for that. Have lots of lower abdo pain could this be the UTI? trying to stay positive but feeling pretty hideous so part of me just waiting for the miscarriage to happen. This is going to be a long day.

I know its much easier said than done but please don't panic. I had spotting but with red blood at 7.5 weeks, then a lot of red blood loss at 8.5 weeks, and a scan last Monday confirmed all was well. I was told that bleeding at 8 weeks is not uncommon as its a time when your period would be due and sometimes even though you are pregnant, you may have a light period anyway.

I know that none of this will stop you worrying but just to let you know that bleeding in pregnancy is very, very common and by no means always means the worst.

Best of luck for your scan tomorrow.

I have had UTI's since my booking in appointment at 9 weeks until last week (24 weeks) I have had antibiotics which have kept it at bay but as soon as the antibiotics wear off I have had quite a lot of pain in my lower abdomen. When I was 16 weeks I was so worried about the pain I went to the maternal assessment unit to get checked out and when I pointed out the pain to the doctor she told me it was my bladder and not in fact my uterus Blush I haven't had any bleeding myself but do know that is is very common for UTI's to cause blood in your urine.

thank you Aworryingtrend am trying not to panic It's just the being in limbo that is so hard. My blood loss has been bright red which I was taking as a bad sign i.e not old blood.

makes sense about the bleeding when the period due sigh just want to know what's going on in there!

so glad that your scan had a good result does give me a bit of hope.

hmmm my pain does feel very low down maybe it is my bladder however am pretty sure the bleeding is vaginal as TMI alert the doctor examined me up there yesterday and there was blood on the equipment.

I really hope all is well and the scan tomorrow is good news.

Really hope all goes well for you tomorrow. Yes it is not uncommon to get some bleeding at 8 weeks - the commonest times to get bleeding or spotting are at 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks due to the change in hormone levels at those times. I had bleeding at 6 weeks and have since had a scan which showed things were fine. I recently had a UTI too and had bad crampy lower abdo / pelvic pains with it. I know none of this is probably going to completely set your mind at rest, but try not to imagine the worst. The only way of knowing that everything is fine is by having the scan, glad you haven't got a long wait for it. Let us know how it goes and take care hugs

xx

Btw hormonal bleeding is often bright red, not necessarily old darker blood. My blood loss was bright red.

Thanks for your message good to hear a positive outcome. Have had bad cramps this afternoon and a bit more blood some a bit clotty. Roll on tomorrow
