Blush

Seriously, for about 10 days now I've had excess wind, bowels are all very the place and I'm quite bloated. Feels a bit like IBS. Am about 6/7 weeks

Anyone have the same problem? Never did in previous pregs.

I'm 7+4 and bloated to all fuck Sad There's no wind, bowels are a bit dodgy though, going a lot but solid to going once a day and it being very loose. It's my upper tummy that's the bloatiest bit and I would love to know what it is caused by or how to relieve it a bit as nothing fits and it's super uncomfortable.

hmm a quick google reveals:

While progesterone is essential for maintaining a healthy pregnancy (it is, after all, the pro-gestation hormone), it also triggers that oh-so-delightful trio: bloating, burping, and farting. Why? Progesterone causes the smooth muscle tissue in your body (including the gastrointestinal tract) to relax. This slows down digestion, giving the nutrients from food you eat more time to enter your bloodstream and reach your baby. That's the good news. The bad news is this slower metabolism can cause bloating.

Makes sense I suppose.

welcome to my world... it's been very windy for me since week 5/6 up to now, week 13, and i can see no signs of it stopping yet! i think some foods are worst than others ie beans, corns and that kind of thing, so be aware of what you eat on different days and see if if/how it may affect you and then try to avoid these foods or limit them...

my partner really struggled at first but now he seems to just get on with it.. it is what it is and we can't do much about it Wink

best of luck with your pregnancy!!!

ooh I've had sweetcorn a lot...

Ah thanks for the replies, I really should know all this as I'm a midwife myself but all the training and experience tends to go our the window when it's yourself ~plus I can't ever remember a woman complaining of this in clinic, but now if one does I can be sure to sympathise Grin

Other half isn't minding so much, night time is the worse and we've got leather sofas, I'll leave the rest to you to think about Grin

I'm totally the same - I've been glugging peppermint tea, which seem to help :)

My partner will be watching this thread hoping someone comes up with a cure as I have been stinking the house out all morning lol. Last couple of mornings I have woken up in discomfort due to trapped wind... and throughout pregnancy I have gone from constipated/bloated to the opposite end of the spectrum :S

I virtually fly to the tube station with all the wind I let out each evening. Rocket powered I tell you.....

I have the worst gas ever and that is saying something from me. I think my partner and cat may go blind with the smell if it continues. I am 11 weeks and would put a cow to shame.

I am bloated also and it is like I have eaten a bag of cement after every meal and it gets worse and worse as the day goes on. I did a trial on Friday and found that anything carb wise made the situation worse, so very little during the day or none and some at tea time. I have been on a high protein and veg/fruit eating plan for the past year or so which has made me lose 5 stone. I think my body is struggling to process them which sucks. Luckily i work in retail and can float around the shop floor shocked at my customer who clearly all have gas !!!!

Horrendous during first trimester, eased off now returning at 31 weeks. Sleeping on your left side certainly helps.
