Best gifts for pregnant mum - practical and luxury

My BF is having her first baby in 2 months time. I would like to put together a bunch of pressies - some for her, some for baby. I know she will get tons of cute little outfits so I'm hoping to get her more practical stuff, with maybe one little outfit chucked in! Her husband is a twunt and I feel she will be left high and dry with baby a lot of the time so I would like to get her things she can use to spoil herself, as well as really useful stuff.

What were/are your absolute favourite gifts for a new baby? And for yourself as a new mum?

TIA

What a lovely bunch of ladies you all are! Some truly brilliant ideas. Best present I remember receiving was a basket of creams and bubble baths for me aswel as bump. I haven't had to buy any gifts in the last few years but now I have plenty of ideas if I need to! OP, great thread :-)

What a lovely idea OP.

Id like to receive a voucher for the hairdresser or beauty salon. Its the type of thing i feel guilty spending money on at a time like this but would very much like a nice haircut or a massage!

Or frozen homecooked dinners as have already been suggested!

My mum made me up a little pamper pack with nice bath stuff, dry shampoo, some Yankee candles, mini wine bottles and chocolates/cookies. I loved it a kinda hoping she does the same this time around 😉
I like the idea of a wee pedicure or dinner voucher too.

One of my best baby presents was a cuddledry baby towel, it's awesome for slippery babies and had lasted so well - done 3 babies so far and is as good as new Smile

For a friend I got a really cute wicker basket and filled it with one of the above towels and a load of baby bath things. Her daughter still uses the basket and she's nearly 7

For Mum, new water bottle and lots of snacks. For baby muslin cloths & short sleeve bodysuits, you need tons in the first few weeks.

I'm currently pregnant and my friend has bought me baby swimming classes which I though was a fantastic idea, it was something I wanted to do and it's a great way to get out and meet other mums, which is priceless.
Everyone has made such great suggestions, I would definitely agree with taking a few home cooked meals/baked goods that she can put in the freezer/serve up to visitors. Lovely body lotion is a good one, I am currently in love with the Molton Brown Rhubarb body cream.
