I had a cry last night after seeing pictures of myself, I am 15 weeks pregnant and finding my changing shape hard to deal with, has anyone else felt like this? I love my bump but feel I am expanding across the hips and bum- even with long walks every evening and no extra food than I had before.
I feel so bad saying this as so excited to have a baby, but I guess I hoped I would be one of those woman who just get a neat bump- looks like i will be an allover expander!

Hermione I feel really similar to you. I am 14+4 with a very much wanted DC#1 after a late MC last year... I am over the moon to be pg, but finding my changing body quite hard. I was a size 14 with H boobs to start with, but I really liked my curves and hourglass figure - now I seem to be straight up and down like a tree trunk as my waist has vanished! I've put on about 5 lbs but it feels like about 50 lbs! We've got three weddings over the next 5 weekends and I am struggling to feel confident in any of the dresses that I normally feel gorgeous in! Hopefully this will pass soon, and when I have more of a bump, rather than just looking like a slightly inflated version of myself, I will feel more attractive again!

Thank you, I am now so worried something will happen to the baby and I have been whinging about weight. I am the same as you- always had a tiny waist and as that is disappearing I feel huge. Got a shopping spree organised next week so hopefully that will help as I will have choices of clothes rather than a wardrobe of tight at the waist dresses I can't wear!

I'm very very weight concious..I weighed 7st 9 and size 6-8 pre pregnancy. I'm now 10st 5 and size 12. (I'm 35+5 weeks) its my second and I'm carrying the same, my bump is neat and tidy. But my arse and legs are HUGE! Literally.I'm struggling with it to, get very upset and feel very down. So its normal.

I have always struggled with my weight but managed to keep it on an even keel and was very happy with my size 14 figure. Then I fell pregnant I felt exactly the same as you.....its extremely hard to embrace your changing body as it is out of your control. I am now 36 + 3 and have put on 2 stone 3lb. I havent found it easy to expand to a 46 inch waist and having lots of weight around my hips and thighs but I am not fat just pregnant and its only temporary.
My way of coping was to make sure I had my treats....hair, nails, pedi etc to make sure I felt the best I could.

It will get easier. 15w isn't a great look for anyone, you're big enough to have lost your shape but not big enough to look pregnant!

In a few weeks you'll have a proper bump. It makes a big difference mentally Smile

I'm struggling already at 7 weeks gone Sad I'm a size 18-20 anyway and am trying to not put excessive weight on, trying to eat healthily and limit naughty stuff.

I'm so bloody bloated all the time i look about 6 months pregnant! Had to resort to ordering some maternity trousers as even my fattest day jeans are digging in and so uncomfortable.

Vinolover · 26/03/2012 09:53

Im feeling pretty much the exact same way :(
I am 20+2 and have put on about a stone already. I wouldnt mind so much if I had been ridiculous with what I have eaten but I have been really quite strict! Plus Im a waitress so I get a hell of a lot of exercising racing around at work and then coming home to two children and a house to keep.
I do however keep telling myself that I am growing another human being inside me and it certainly is not forever!!! I lost the weight with my other two and I will do it again this time around :)

Doesn't bloody help that my sil has lost a lot of weight recently and is looking absolutely amazing Envy. I felt like a whale sat next to her yesterday lol.

Thanks all, that has made me feel better. I have a big weekend away with friends in June and the thought of them all looking amazing and me looking huge makes me feel abit down, but as others have said, once I look pregnant rather than just tree trunk like it will be better. Also a friend is pregnant and looks great, just a bump and that is it (like she has a ball up her dress) so I feel I will be compared to her and I won't come out of it well!

Every body is different and will react differently to pregnancy! i was 65 kgs and now that i am nearly 14 weeks have gained 3 kgs.. My diet hasnt changed, i still try to walk to places as much as i can but there are certain things that i will not be able to stop from happening. I don't think i have actually put on a lot of weight anywhere else but around my hips and waist, which is ashame as i had a great waist a few months back. however, i accept and will try my best to learn to love my body the way ti is now, cause from what i hear, it will only get worse :) so cheer up and enjoy being pregnant!
