How long have you had them? I think you only worry if they become regular? I'm nearly 33 wk and suffering horrid cramps and pains so I feel your pain...plays on your mind a bit!

Dozeyland · 25/03/2012 21:54

2weeks or so like this. yeah i just keep wondering. will he/she be early because of this? DD was 5days over but speedy delivery

I was having them at 32 weeks, now 35+5 weeks and they did ease off eventually. I was having them to the point they kept me up all night and where very painful too. I thinks BHs are more common in 2nd n subsequent pregnancies. Likewise I never felt them with my first.

Fishpond · 26/03/2012 13:08

I'm 24 weeks with my first and have had them irregularly for about a week or two, although last night they were every 6-8 minutes for a good few hours. My doctor said it's rubbish that they mean early babies as all women have Braxton hicks, just not all women feel them Smile

LeBFG · 26/03/2012 13:21

Every time i read threads like this i want to shout out "get it checked out anyway". This was exactly what i experienced, dismissed it for two days, until finally going to hospital and labouring two days later.

DS was born at 33 weeks.

Dozeyland · 26/03/2012 21:41

went to MW.

Baby is ead down 3/5 engaged. i'm 32 weeks today.

she said to take it easy

Good luck Dozeyland,

My DD was born at 32+5 and is fine, apart from asthma. Hopefully resting up will help slow things down, but don't feel bad about getting yourself to hospital if you think you need to go. Did your m/w suggest you should have steroids? Might be an idea if you get any other pains - I was 2cm dilated on what I thought were BH....

HeidiHole · 27/03/2012 16:45

Have the BH eased off at all dozeyland? Hope you take it easy (easier said than done if this in number 2!)

Dozeyland · 27/03/2012 20:29

BH's are still the same really, baby is very active. I just feel pressure at the bottom of my bump (where head is engaged obviously) and I've felt down there today which seems to feel swollen. maybe its the heat? and having DD to look after.

I am trying to make myself realise that I do need to try and slow down a bit. It is hard though considering I take DD to playgroups Mon, weds, Fri. and we usually do stuff the other days. whether this is food shopping, parks etc.

MW said at this stage my cervix may already be 1-2cms without me really knowing.

Even though i've done it 17months ago, and DD's labour literally kicked off with obvious differences to BH's... I feel like i can;t remember? what if i dont reconise the signs?

I had strong Bh with DS2. I was told to rest up and drink plenty of water (which helped a bit). If it makes you feel better (or possibly not!) my labour was 1.5 hours start to finish and i'm convinced weeks of strong BH helped!

Dozeyland · 27/03/2012 21:15

Dribble How many weeks were you with DC2 in labour?

My labour was around 3.5/4hrs. but established was 2 hrs ish i think? I was 5cms when i got to the hospital at 6:30pm, got examined, went to the birthing room and was 9 cms not long after then DD was born at 8:33pm.

I think the strong BH's helped with her labour too, but they wasnt this strong this early on.

I was 39+6, but had a sweep on the sat (DS2 born Monday) as i was due to be induced on the thursday as i has very low platelet levels.

I had no pre-labour signs at all (except perhaps the absence of BH!), had friends over, they left at 9pm, waters broke 9.05pm, no contractions, started at 9.45pm - 2-3minutes apart, got to hospital 10.15pm, DC2 born at just after 11.

I went in for assessment a couple of times during pregnancy with DC2, someone on here mentioned irritable uterus and so did midwife so my strong BH might have been this.

Dozeyland · 27/03/2012 21:31

Oh okay.

MW also said that My iron level from 28week bloods was 10.3 i think. My stupid drs surgery should have told me so I cn start the iron tablets. She said I should be fine, but need to be topped up as I had 1000pph 2hrs after giving birth to dd (had low iron then too of 9.0)

OP posts:
dribbleface · 27/03/2012 21:34

I had lowish iron too about 9 i think, mine went up very quickly after I started the iron tablets.

Good luck, having 2 is the best feeling in the world (possibly because I really struggled with DS1 but DC2 has been a doddle - 6 months now). And he worships his big brother, beams at him like no-one else, it makes me well up everytime!
