...you spend all day at work being desperate for the toilet, you finally get home to use your own bathroom and... nothing happens!!!

never really predicted how much I'd have to worry about my bottom with pregnancy. not really something anyone prepares you for. I mean, I always heard my mum going on about how I gave her piles, but didn't really take it in. Now I'm either pooing too much or not enough, amking dietary decisions based on this, farting like a carthorse or lovingly tending to my piles everyday.

Not going to the loo when you want to can really aggravate constipation. If you don't start getting over the thing of not going when you're at work it's only going to get worse.

dreadful isn't it. when my friend (who had a baby a few years ago) found out i was pregnant, she told me "congratulations. you are now not going to be able to shit properly for at least a year" lol

i take an ispaghula fibre supplement every day and that makes a huge difference

Wholemeal bread, fruit & lots of water seems to have worked for me - I haven't had constipation since week 8 (I'm now 12 weeks). Don't get hung up about pooing in work - you'll only make things worse if you hold it in. ATM, I'm just about making it to the toilets at work before I do massive farts (sorry, but we all know how gassy pregnancy makes us! )
