I am a bit of a worry wart anyway lol but I got my scan date thru today and I will be 13+2 wks when I have it. The only thing I keep thinking is that when they do the scan either one or both of the babies wont be in there ( I was exactly the same way with my singleton daughter who is now 2). I saw both of their heartbeats at 7+4 wks but I guess that counts for nothing as everyone I speak to say that twin pregnancies are extremely "fragile" and scaring me even more lol

Anyone else freaking out like me about their 12 wks scan (singleton, twin or more :)

Hi Kate!
I am 11 weeks with twins too!!!
I've got my 12wk scan next week and i just need to have it so i can see if they're both there!!!!
It's driving me mad!! Feel like i shouldn't start imagining twins cos the midwife said there's a possibility of one of them not being there anymore at 12 weeks.

Just need to know!!!

Hey Smile congrats on your twins!!! I am 10/11 weeks on Sunday with dc3 , I have had lots of early scans as I have had 3 miscarriages in past. I am petrified about my 12 week scan too, so I am totally with u on this one xx

Hi Kate and Nancy. Congratulations on your twins! It is natural to worry with any pregnancy, and I know I felt doubly nervous / worried / precious about my twins. Yes twin pregnancies are higher risk, but health professionals will be working to manage that risk and look after you and your babies - but I know these early days are hard (I am afraid the worrying and stessing never goes away!).

There is a twins thread on the ante-natal board - come and join if you want to, but understand if you want to wait a bit. There are lots of us there - some have popped, some have nearly popped and others have only just found out! I am in the middle (31 weeks).

Good luck to both of you - the time before you see your babies at your next scan drags soooo much, but it will be here soon! x x

hey guys,

yes i thought the stressing / worrying thing probably wasn't gonna magically lift after twelve week scan!! lol

i will join the twins thread if all well after next week's scan!!

good luck everybody!

I'm not having twins (congrats btw) but I was so stressed about the 12 week scan it was unbelievable! I was shaking before I went in, worried that there wouldn't be anything there or that there would be something seriously wrong. Everything was fine and I'm sure it will be with you too hun x

painauchoc · 23/03/2012 20:37

I'm 9 weeks and feel just the same - have had two straightforward healthy pgs before and ob was very reassuring about having a good obstetric history but can't help but worry. Plus feeling 2 x sick and 2 x tired!

nalubeadsgirl · 23/03/2012 20:43

I"m totally freaking out - not expecting twins (well..not that I know yet!?!). Am 6 weeks, having an early scan at about 8/9 weeks because we lost our first baby at 17weeks (mmc, but only found out at 13 weeks scan, which we were late for thanks to the stupid nhs making us wait!)

Having had one awful 'I'm sorry, there is no heartbeat' moment, it's not like I imagine what it feels like...we know :(. So yes..totally totally with you on this freaking out lark!

How/when did you find out it was twins?xx Congrats by the way!

DreamingOfPeace · 23/03/2012 21:20

oh kate, it's such a stressful time. I'm 36 weeks pregnant with twins, and despite being on medication for sickness and struggling enourmously I was still terrified there'd be no heart beat at my 12 week scan. I was so happy- and shocked- there were in fact two!!

As bigboobs says there's a twins ante-natal thread, great for support, and I hope your scan is good on Tuesday. 2 heartbeats at 7+4 must be good though, isn't it a hb at 8 weeks has a 90% chance of being a viable pregnancy and your last scan was close to that? I knwo how worrying the thought of vanishing twin is though (though not sure on the liklihood). Even though I only found out at 12 weeks, I still stressed about it. A girl I've met while pg had her first scan at 5+4 and it was twins- she's 37 weeks today and expecting 2 girls. Chin up, not so long to wait!
