hi guys, last night i woke in the early hours with pain in my belly just below my ribs so top of bump. it kept me writhing for some time, then i started throwing up. the pain now seems to gave gone but now i feel sickly, weak and generally unwell. anyone have had similar? could it just be bad trapped wind/indigestion or just a bug? im 22 weeks. any clues from people who has experienced similar would be grateful

Please see a midwife, could just be trapped wind or a tummy bug (stomach is higher than normal as pushed up by bump) but pain in area you describe can be sign of pre-eclampsia.

Please see this www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pre-eclampsia/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

Please please just get it checked out, it probably is nothing to worry about but it's not worth ignoring, especially with you saying you feel generally unwell.

I've no idea what it could be but I think a call to the midwife is definitely in order in case it is a symptom of something not good. It would put your mind at ease anyway. Hope you feel better soon.

thanks for replies. it does make sense to call midwife, my pressure has been low and not had anything cause for my concern when i went for my appointments. would it be worth waiting til the morning to see if i get better?

No, call now, problems can develop very quickly, so best to call and get the all clear asap

HamblesHandbag · 23/03/2012 16:03

yes, do it now. It's probably nothing but please just make sure.

Hope you're OK.

Yes you need to see the doctor or midwife today. Preeclampsia can start at 22/23 weeks of pregnancy.

fairimum · 23/03/2012 19:38

i had preeclampsia from 22 weeks - please get checked, i didn't and wouldn't want anyone to have to deal with that!

if caught early they can try adn treat it xx

Hi, i'm sorry i missed all the replies, im starting to perk up now, apparently some bugs going round here. I will call the midwife tomorrow as abit late now. Can anyone describe what the pain should feel like in pre eclampsia? (the one at top of belly)
