Exactly what the title says; suffering with heartburn badly and it's making me miserable!

Anyone got any tips to relieve it so I can get some much needed sleep? Don't have any gaviscon in but will get some tomorrow.

Glass of milk.

You are better off with ranitadine or omeprazole, but until then I agree with Chub - milk.

You poor thing, I've had constant heartburn for about 3 months now , it goes away for a bit when I take stuff for it, but it's always lurking, waiting to rear it's ugly head again!!

I would suggest a glass of milk just now if you have nothing else, that usually soothes it enough for to get a sleep. I also agree that ranitadine is quite good for it, it will take It away for a good few hours. Gaviscon don't help me very much, even the liquid stuff but I find rennie ice are good for instant relief.

Hope you find something to help you soon, it's honestly been the worst part of my pregnancy Sad

Urgh I am the same.
I have had the max dose of Ranitidine. I've run out of Gaviscon. I've had a glass of milk and it's still shit. That's why I'm awake at this ridiculous hour.

Ranitidine was great for a while, when I first started taking one before bed I could get a decent nights sleep but it doesn't seem to be cutting it any more. 3 weeks to go.....

Bicarbonate of soda. A teaspoon dissolved in a small glass of water (hold your nose while you swallow it down). This is the only thing that works for me these days.

Cae1985 · 22/03/2012 06:41

I've never tried this myself yet, but ive also heard a few times, that a tea spoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass if water helps. Supposed to taste awful though. I would Honestly try anything though if u thought it would give me some relief!

Severe heartburn type pain can be a sign of pre eclampsia. If you have any other symptoms:

Please contact your midwife.

Thanks for that fishy I was not aware it was a symptom. Fortunately don't have any others but will be keeping a close eye on it.
