Hi,

I am having a big big fat day!! I am almost 12 weeks pregnant and not really showing but have always had a little pot belly and that pot belly has expanded, everything I put on, especially tops looks so unflattering. Sposed to be going out to quite a posh do on sat night and have no idea what will look good on me and don't really have the cash to go on a shopping spree. Any ideas you lovely ladies?!?!?!

Thanks!!

I'm 17 weeks and at that stage too! My normal clothes are too tight and maternity clothes are huge! I got a couple of really cute little baby doll style dresses from an online shop called Boutique73 which are quite casual and i've worn with Uggs but equally can be worn with high heels if you need to be dressed up. They are super flattering and cheap too!

I just bought a load of primark tops in next size up, and 2 decent pairs of maternity jeans. Those and some m and s trackies got me through.

Best of luck with your pregnancies x

A wrap dress or top. It will most probably be made from jersey which will be comfy, but the wrap element of it disguises your out belly. I am 25 weeks and huge and am wearing some non-maternity wrap tops still.

Sometime I think wrap stuff looks a bit mummsy but you can accessorise to make it look better / less old.

I found '60s style shift dresses to be really flattering. I had one from Next and one from Tescos that I wore to death throughout my pregnancy. When you're not too pregnant you can still get a belt around them and that detracts the eye if you're not happy to show off the bump!

At 12 weeks you should probably find that a dress the next size up will give you enough room, and that means you can buy cheaper stuff than from some of the proper maternity shops. Sometimes that means the back can hang a little loose but a cardigan can hide that well

I'm 10 weeks and like you have always had a bit of a tummy which is now taking on a life of its own due to bloating! I have bought a couple of maternity dresses from asos (via Ebay) for going out in- a black strapless one, and a pink pleated one. Both are a little on the big side now but look really nice pulled in with a belt under the bust to give more of an hourglass shape rather than humty dumpty.

Casual wise I'm in leggings and tunics as I have always tended to wear these anyway to disguise my tummy.
