Pain behind pubic bone?

I am 35 weeks pg and recently have been having a lot of pain (it feels like its in my nerve endings) quite deep inside my body, and behind what feels like my pelvic bone.

Baby is head down, I am told, but the head has not engaged. I have had a completely trouble-free pregnancy.

Cause for concern or par for the course?!

Could it be SPD, or perhaps just pressure from the babies head if it has dropped down a bit? Could perhaps be a bladder infection - have you had any other symptoms?

Have you mentioned it to your GP / mw? A fair bit of discomfort seems to be pretty common later in pg - I know loads of people who've had loads of aches and pains, as I did in my previous pgs, so chances are you'll be fine. However, it's always worth mentioning things to the mw, just in case there is something they can do to help, and to rule out anything unpleasant.

Could just be the pressure of baby's head, I do remember discomfort there in my last preg, but you should see your GP and have your urine tested to rule out a water infection. They are very common in pregnancy and can just cause pains without the other common symptoms of needing to pee all the time and stinging when you go. Good luck and hope all goes smoothly :)

Thanks for your advice. I had it checked out - no water infection, so likely to be nerve/muscular pain as a result of the baby's head dropping. At least everything is going in the right direction (my last pregnancy was breech throughout, so this is good news!).

Glad you are OK!

I had this. Went MW with it as it used to pain a bit then go and then back and was always the same and did feel like nerve endings. She said it was just one of those random pregnancy pains and it was. I had more after the birth and for about 6 months but not as bad and then totally went.
