Hi, this my first visit to mumsnet and am really excited to find such a great site. I was wondering at what stage can I expect to feel movements from my baby? I am nearly 19 weeks and this is my first but so far I have felt nothing. My husband keeps poking my stomach and shining a torch at it to see if it prompts anything but so far nothing! What stage did others feel something?

Also, can someone give me a quick guide to all the abbreviations ds, dh etc??
Thanks

Hi there. Pretty much anything with a d in front of it is dear/darling then either husband, son daughter, so DH DS and DD respectively. The rest you can find in the grey header at the top with the blue writing 'acronym list'.

I thought I felt a few little movements at around 18-19 weeks. Was definately sure at around 21 weeks when I had my anomaly scan, just after I could really feel him. So around about now I would say you can expect to start feeling your baby. Good luck!

Aah, all becomes clear now - didn't see the acronym header. Cheers!

I didnt feel anything until 20 weeks and I only noticed them because I was laying on the bed reading a book and had the spine resting on my belly. The baby didnt like it and would kick the book.
Give it a go as it may get a reaction.
