What brand of test are you using? Are you testing with your first wee of the day? Do you know when you ovulated this month? if you ovulated later than usual your period will come later. Do you usually have a regular cycle?

Sorry for all the questions but need more info to be able to help!

no advice but I was due on the 17th and still nothing. Must have at least 5 bfn in the bin now :( Google tells me its no uncommon to take up to a week to show up. Maybe try again in a few days?

I'm giving it until next week before going to the GP myself, but thats cos I know mine would ignore me before that.

Ive been using clear blue, i did the tests around 5pm! i dont know when i ovulated lol.. i always have a regular cycle.

You need to use your first pee of the day for the best results. There's not much point in going to the GP as the tests for home use are the same reliability as the tests the GP would use.

Fingers crossed for you, sore boobs in particular sounds like a good possible sign anyway :)

Clearblue have a bit of a reputation as not the most reliable. Try superdrug early response- I got a BFP 2 days before my period was due. And definitely do it with your first wee of the day!!! That is when the levels of HCG are most concentrated for a more accurate result.

I had 3 negative tests when I tested 2 weeks after a missed period. I went to the docs who told me that periods get missed etc and its all normal come back if I've still not had it a month later.
I started to get really sick 3 weeks later, did another test and was positive!

exexe · 21/03/2012 10:20

Oh and I used clear blue digital and first response and got negatives. Then the positive was with the digital one again.
My period was due in the first week of January and I think I've pretty much gone through my first trimester now (have yet to have a proper drs appointment. The one I had last week was were they insisted on a test before things can proceed Hmm)

Congrats, Fingers crossed for me :).. Sorry but im special needs so it takes a while for me to understand :/.. I'm going to leave it for a few days and see what happens. thanks for the advice guys xx

Hope you get the result you want! If you have more questions we are all here to help but I would definitely recommend:

  1. not using the 'digital' type- they are not as responsive as the normal kind

  2. doing your first wee of the day OR not drinking for a few hours before you take the test

  3. not drinking alcohol/smoking for now in case you are pregnant and its just taking a while to get the BFP.

Good luck!

It took me 7 days after my missed period to get a positive..same with both pregnancies..and both I was using clear blue or first response. I gave up and just brought a cheap tesco/asda brand one and got my positive!

Catsycat · 21/03/2012 13:25

The tests are based on your period being 14 days after you ovulate, so when it says you can test from the day your period is due etc, it means 14 days after ovulation IYSWIM. Clearblue (as others have said) is not the most sensitive test you can buy, though the result on the digital one is obviously easy to interpret, once your hormone levels reach the level it is testing for. There is a chart online somewhere comparing the amount of hcg needed to get a +ve on different makes of test (can't remember where I found it now I'm afraid) and the superdrug ones, and some internet cheapie strips are about twice as sensitive as Clearblue. I ovulate late, and have a 23 day cycle, so some tests (like clearblue) don't tend to come up positive for about a week after I' due on.

Good luck!
