Hi,

I am looking for some advise. I am pregnant for the second time the first one ended in a mmc at 12+5weeks in September 11. I am 11 + 3 weeks now and my first scan is next Monday. The thing is for the last week my symptoms have all but disappeared. My boobs are no longer sore, although still a little bigger. My sickness has completely gone and I am no where near as tired as I was. I am still getting headaches but I was prone to these anyway. Monday seems like such a long way off.
Am I worrying over nothing or is there a high chance I've miscarried again?
I have called the midwife and although she was sympathetic and lovely on the phone she kind of just said, what will be will be and I just need to rest until Monday?????
Mumsnet helped me through my mmc so I thought of no better place to come.

Hi Caroline - I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and congratulations on this pregnancy.

I had a similar experience - had a MMC at 13 weeks last year with my first pregnancy, am now 14 weeks pregnant again. I had awful nausea, fatigue and sore boobs for the first 10 weeks of this PG, but then everything disappeared and that was when I started to panic. I was really nervous for the 12 week scan after what had happened last time and my lack of symptoms. I think it is completely natural you are worrying, but for me everything went fine and my MW had said most people's symptoms really calm down after 10-12 weeks. So it's normal that you're feeling a bit more like yourself now.

Remember you've been extremely unlucky to have a MMC - I think that only happens in about 1% of pregnancies, so you have every reason to think all will go well at your scan. Good luck on Monday!

Sorry to hear about your mmc. I think symptoms do settle down near the end of the first trimester anyway so it's probably just that Smile

I had no symptoms with ds at all and was convinced something had gone wrong but it was all fine.
I'm preg again I'm only 6 weeks and again don't feel anything except twinges now and again. Trying hard not to worry during the horrible wait til 12 week scan.

Good luck on mon, I'm sure you won't need it though Smile

Hi Caroline. Having a MMC is awful - I had one in June at around 10 weeks, followed by a CP two cycles later. I am now 30 weeks pg, and all is well.

TBH, the mc has coloured the whole pregnancy so far. I have been very worried about every change in symptoms, whether I can feel movements or not, and it's only in the last week that I haven't checked for bleeding every time I've gone to the toilet. You are likely to be worried - it is natural, but it doesn't mean those worries are going to come true.

As Desperate said, the symptoms can start to lessen round about where you are now anyway, so it doesn't seem abnormal for you to feel different - it's just very unfortunate timing with what happened before.

Unfortunately, the mw is right - all you can do is try to relax until Monday (I know that probably seems next to impossible, but just try to do whatever you can to take your mind off it). I felt absolutely awful in the run up to every scan, even the 20 week one - I was so sure I would get bad news, so I really do sympathise.

I do hope it all goes well on Monday - remember the odds are vastly in your favour that everything will be fine.

Hi Caroline

Hope you're ok. I don't really have any advice but I wanted to show support and say "hang in there"! Thanks

Pregnancy symptoms can come & go. If you've not had bleeding or cramps then that's a very good sign (although I know there's a chance of MMC). I'm only 8+1 and last week all my symptoms disappeared for 4 blissful days...only to come back with a vengeance at the weekend and I've felt rubbish ever since.

And I second what's previously been mentioned - your placenta may have started to take over now so your symptoms from the HCG wil drop off naturally.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you & thinking happy uterus thoughts x

Hi Caroline, just wanted to see I'm kind of in the same situation as you - I'm 12 weeks & symptoms seem to be lessening. I've got my scan on Wed so just wanted to say good luck for yours & you're not alone! X
