Constipation agony & iron tablets

Tmi alert before I start. Not one of the nicer sides of pregnancy. I started taking iron tablets the dr have me for anaemia last week, on top of the Pregnacare I've been taking since finding out I was of. I'm in what I can only describe as agony today with black poo struggling to get out. Having spent almost an hour writhing on the loo (with my adorable toddler trying to help) I'm now laying down which is the only way I can get comfy. My bum is sore and feels swollen. What can I do? TIA.

Ditto Spatone, less constipation and pleasant to take. Good luck!

Sounds great. Thanks for all the replies. That's what I'll try. Smile

When I was on iron tablets (after DS was born), I also drank a glass of prune juice a day which helped with constipation :)

You can mix the prune juice with the spatone! Yum!
