Anyone had a CVS and are you told the sex unless you state that don't want to know? Is this part of the standard report?

IME they ask you if you want to know on the phone when they give you the immediate results- but it isnt on any of the paperwork detailing the results that I later got.

blacktreaclecat · 19/03/2012 07:56

If you ask I'm sure they'll tell you but I doubt you'll care. All that matters is normal chromosomes -XX or XY irrelevant really.

I had a CVS. The hospital only gave results face to face. They can tell you for definite, but will usually ask you first if you want to know.

We wanted to know. We'd had a horrible time waiting for the results and it was a lovely treat to find out.

blacktreacle- I wouldn't call it irrelevant- we went to Hell and back twice and it helped us bond with our little boy who is now healthy and it helped us name the little girl who was too ill to live.

FMC will tell you what you want.I had nt scan there at 12 weeks and they asked if i wanted to know which i did.

blacktreaclecat · 19/03/2012 12:30

Sorry irrelevant was the wrong word. I mean unimportant.
Having waited for that phone call myself all I wanted to hear was- normal- boy/ girl didn't even cross my mind. It was t21.

I agree with youoldslag after waiting and stressing over our amnio results (we were very high risk for ds) finding out all was ok was wonderful and knowing the sex was a nice little bonus. We already have a ds so finding out we are going to have a dd was lovely.

I wanted to know the sex and didn't want anymore second guessing throughout my two pregnancies.

blacktreaclecat i'm sorry for your loss.

lynlynnicebutdim · 19/03/2012 13:44

they asked us if we wanted to know when they called with the initial results. We did want to know so found out.

It wasnt on any of the "official" test results that went in my maternity notes though.
