Iam 33+3 and since friday have had an intense headache over right eye and in a line over the top of my head on same side, it makes my eyes water and gets worse when i stand up from sitting or lying down.

Paracetamol doesnt help at all, this morning in desperation i took 2 co codamol that i have for my spd but have been avoiding as dont like taking tablets and they have not worked either.

Had a very mild cold last week and at first wondered if it could be my sinuses ? def not a migraine as ive had them before and its a completely different pain. even moving my head hurts and im really feeling rubbish.I dont want to rush to the hosp and waste their time over nothing does anybody have any idea what this could be ?

I could be a number of things but I think you should call the midwife anyway as a headache can be a sign of preeclampsia which can be a serious. Not meaning to worry you but best to get it checked outSmile

can pre eclampsia develop very quickly?-my blood pressure is always low (sometimes a bit too low apparently) so i didnt think i neede to worry about that but maybe i should get it checked just in case ?

Sounds like sinuses to me - I get quite a lot of sinus infections and they hurt around my eye and head and neck area. Does it hurt or you feel pressure when you tip your head forward down?

Maybe best to get checked with the mw anyway. Pregnancy related hypertension felt (for me) a lot like a sinus headache at the start.

yes hurts when i move my head side to side or forward or stand up, a really intense sharp pain that makes my eyes water

I would say sinuses then. It's really painful so you have my sympathies. Get checked out incase you need antibiotics to clear it (and get the bp done just incase).

Until then the only thing I can think to help to clear it would be steam. I normally use menthol crystals with the steam but have a funny feeling I didn't when I was pregnant because you aren't meant to. Unfortunately paracetamol/cocodemol isn't great. Ibuprofen helps better as it's an anti-inflammatory but yet again - can't take. Pregnancy sucks when you are sick.

will try steam i think thankyou, had been panicking a bit as even co codamol hadnt touched the pain and as far as i knew my cold was so mild so i wasnt sure if it could be my sinuses as i really only had a couple of days with a sore throat and blocked nose, nothing that id have imagined could have caused me this much pain a few days later!

will def get bp checked just in case though.

You should call the labour ward to get checked really, pre eclampsia can develop very quickly, they would rather you called to check than risk anything going wrong. I don't want to worry you but it is definitely a case of better safe than sorry.

I would definitely call the labour ward now and let them decide whether to check you over. Pre-eclampsia can develop very quickly, so they may ask you to come in. They certainly won't mind you ringing them and it can't do any harm to have a chat with them.
