Bit confused here. If you make your own custard, lemon curd (obviously using raw eggs), does the egg get cooked enough? I've searched on the internet, but couldn't really find any answers

I hope so!!! My DH would make lovely home-made ice cream with a custard base rather than use a recipe with raw eggs so I could eat it while pg. If not, then that was pretty pointless Wink

you could eat raw eggs in the uk anyway, they are all vaccinated against salmonella, which is the only reason you cook them. Its just another example of a guideline with no sensible basis.

Thanks ladies, its all so confusing! So much hype about what you shouldn't eat! Some websites even say you should avoid cold cooked Ham - well I craved wafer thin Ham sarnies during weeks 8-10, so nothing was going to stop me eating them!
