Basically I think my weight gain is a bit excessive..worrying a bit! I weighed 7 stone 9 before pregnancy and I'm now 10 stone 5! That's just under 3 stone..surely that's a lot? I have gained a lot on my bum and legs, I have a very small neat tight bump. Had a growth scan at 30weeks which measured baby at 3Ib 4 so assuming he weighs about 5Ib now.

Every woman is different, so its hard to compare! I gained 2 stone in total (I'm 5'1 so that's a bigger percentage of body weight than someone taller, I think) but that was with throwing up for the first 5 months and nausea for the last 4 months. Without the sickness I reckon it would easily have been 3 stone.

Do remember that you will be carrying not just the baby, but the placenta and extra blood, and also there will be water retention (I once 'lost' 4lbs in a day due to fluctuating water retention!) so you may find that very little of that 3 stone is actual weight gain for you.

Ps - you sound as if you are petite anyway, so I don't think your weight gain sounds excessive Smile I think if you're not eating a ridiculous amount then most of the weight is to do with the baby in one way or another and will come off easily when the baby comes

Hi,
I can totally sympathise. Before I was pregnant I was 7 stone 10lbs and now at 31 weeks in 10 stone. I like you, the weight has mostly gone to my bum and thighs but I've put on minimal weight on my face, arms, back etc. Was hoping that my weight gain would be closer to the 2 stone mark but I envisage that it will be nearer to 3 by the end. I love my neat round bump (that my MW has credited to strong tummy muscles!) and know that I apart from the (not so) odd cake I've been eating well and just giving my body what it needs. I mean all women need to have fat reserves to feed out babies. I think at this stage if rather have put on a little more than not have put on enough and risk the health of my LO. Plus I'm confident I can loose the extra weight after BF. That is if I can give up my newly found cheese addiction....

My tiny mother gained 2 stone during her pregnancy with me but the day she left hospital she was back to her pre-pregnancy weight. Hmm
I think it was magic.

Sorry meant to say so don't worry too much Smile

I was 7 stone 3 last time and went to 9 stone 5 and I had lost it all within the month and I didnt do anything specific. I had no signs that I had ever been pregnant and was totally flat stomached, no stretch marks etc. I am 2 weeks before due date now and put on about the same. I paniced that it would change my body last time but this time Im not worried at all. I expect as you were around my size to start with you will be similar to me. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy Smile

Don't worry - every woman is different.

1st pg I gained 4st in total. This pg (currently 34+3) have only gained 8lbs so far - but I was still carrying about 2st from my first pg.

I am 35 wks and have gained bang on 2 stone x feel very swollen and fat but have only gained weight on bum and top of legs.

mrswattnot · 17/03/2012 04:15

I'm 5'3 and was 7 stone 12 before I had my Dd. I went up to 11 5, the weight went mainly on my my bum and legs and I also had very bad water retention. I had a neat bump and no stretch marks.

I bf and most of the weight came off within 6 months. I've never been under 8 stone since or a size 6 but was happy being a size 8 and around 8 stone 7. This pregnancy I have gained just over 2 1/2 stone at 33 weeks, again mainly on legs and bum.

Thanks for responses..I have always been one that's had to watch what I ate, so after my first DS I was strict with my self and the weight fell off. Took a lot of hard work and determination. I had to stop BF so didn't have that to help contribute to the loss, and I don't think I'm going to be able to this time, another worry of mine..my boobs just don't feel like their getting full again. They have gone up a size yes, but past recent weeks seem a bit smaller. And majorly empty I know that milk comes in about a week after the baby..but when I say empty I literally mean they ARE completely empty.that's the problem I had with my first, he would be on me for an hour then have to have a bottle as wasn't full! When I managed to express which was very difficult..I only managed to get 2 ounce and that from both boobs! So don't think BF is going to be an option to help me lose it. Guess its the diet regime again! Lol
