Yes, those hurt, don't they? I'm sure you know this, but straighten your leg with the foot at right angles to the leg, and pull on your foot gently to ease the cramp (hopefully this won't interfere with your pulled ligament). If you have a DP handy at the time, he could do this if it's awkward, also you can massage the crampy bit to ease it. I believe eating bananas and keeping well hydrated all the time can also help, though I'm not sure how much.

I've had this in all my 2 previous pgs, and it's just kicking in now with my 3rd pg. Oh, joy!!!

Good luck with it.

Oh, are you getting the weird sticking out toe thing too? Yeah, it's horrible!

Bananas ......sort of early evening then they gave me heartburn- so i nibbled during the day. if no dh\dp around try rolling the foot on a hard ball like a cricket ball or even a bottle of water- with your toes taught sort of vertical. I even resorted to the stairs anything that had a funny rounded shape.
Mind you mine were more often in the night.... So it was dh to the rescue.

I'm having this! 2nd pregnancy, didnt get it with the first and its WEIRD! I went to my acupuncturist and she really sorted it out.
Good luck!

I had this, it's horrid! My midwife said potassium helps, which there's a lot of in bananas, so I started having a couple a day it but didn't have much effect for me. Then I read that in 250ml of coconut water there is the equivalent potassium of 2 bananas, so I have started on that. So long as I have at least 2 glasses a day (initially needed 3 a day) then I'm ok, but if I have less then I get the cramps back. I top it up with a bit of pineapple juice to make it taste better. Also helps keep hydrated which is supposed to help as well.
Hope you find something that works for you.

pint of milk and a packet of crisps every evening seem to help me !?!

MyLittleMiracle · 16/03/2012 10:00

I was told the good old remedy as someone suggested of bananas but followed by a bag of ready salted crisps (the midwife actually said something salty, but i was craving ready salted crisps) really helped me, and oh god i do remember those cramps too!
