Movements SO low down at 24 weeks

that not only are they making me feel ill and uncomfortable, but I'm worried already that this baby is head up. I'm constantly being kicked in the foof area. Surely I should be having movements higher up by now?

I'm probably worrying about nothing, but can anyone identify with this please?

I'm a few days ahead of you and am getting loads of kicks down at my fanjo too! It is uncomfortable, I feel as if the baby wants to kick his/her way out already!
Had MW appointment today & baby is breech at the minute. But the MW reassured me that there is still loads of time for the baby to turn.
Try not to worry too much. Am sure the baby will behave him/herself & get into a nice position before the birth.

Catsycat · 14/03/2012 21:54

I'm 29 weeks with DD3, and all of mine enjoyed using my bladder as a punchbag / trampoline for a long time. You still have loads of room in there for the baby to turn and generally change position, however improbable that sounds. IME they probably won't make a big deal about position until into the mid-30s of weeks. If it helps, last tuesday my baby was scanned and was transverse, by friday she was lying longways down my abdomen, the mw had no idea if her head or bum was uppermost. The comment I got from both sonographer and mw was "at this stage it doesn't matter". Remember, they can punch and kick you, so maybe it is the baby's left hook you can feel, not it's feet Grin. As Sucks says, try not to worry.

Really?? Thank you!! Baby actually makes me physically jump sometimes Shock

I'm at the midwife next week, so I'll get her to check the babys position then. Mind you, the last time I was palpated, baby was very very restless for 24 hrs afterwards. Have you had that at all?

I know what you mean, re. the jumping - it can be very strong!!!

I haven't been palpated that much until later on, I suppose, but I have noticed with all 3 that touching the bump, splashing it in the bath, and I guess generally giving them a bit of "feedback" did make them more excitable!

surfmama · 14/03/2012 22:04

hi mcphee yes i have regular tickles feels like it's on my pubic bone almost as its so low. i agree, it does make me feel a bit sick, god knows what way up this wee one is. the other day i had such a rib pain I couldn't walk, so presumed baby was kicking or punching rib area, but back to bladder/pubes today!

SucksFake · 14/03/2012 22:07

Yep, I've jumped a few times too!

This is my third pregnancy (have DD & DTSs) & I think this baby's movements have been more energetic than the other three ever were!

Since my last post, I'm feeling lots of kicks (?punches) in exactly the spot where the head was earlier. Confused

Your baby is probably doing somersaults too, maybe when you're not even aware. And my MW said exactly what Catsycat has said above; they would only be concerned about the baby's lie from 36 weeks.

confuzed90 · 14/03/2012 22:26

I was the same at your stage, I'm now 34 weeks. But I used to feel him kicking me like crazy down there...sometimes made me jump to my feet! He was breech..but don't worry still plenty of time for them to move..as mine is now head down and very low! Infact I was at midwife other day complaing of baby hurting my cervix, didn't think he could as his heads there, and apparantly his head is on my cervix and he's wiggling it around! Strange..so just to pre-warn...the like to use you as a bouncing castle :)

McPhee · 14/03/2012 22:38

Well I will wait for the bouncing to begin then Grin

When I've got my jeans on and lean forward slightly, it actually feels like I'm trapping babys feet Blush

So glad I saw this thread I am having the same issues and I was really worried that my boy is too low I am 22+1 It just sounds normal, I'll be sat watching TV and jump out of my skin it's an awful feeling, plus if my husband talks to our boy he actually starts moving so I have banned all converstaions for a few weeks as it makes me feel sick :)

Happenstance · 16/03/2012 08:39

Hi McPhee just wanted to say, my baby was breech up untill 35+5 when it decided to turn on its own, not the most pleasant experience ever but it's all good now :)

McPhee · 16/03/2012 10:23

I'm so glad others can identify with this, I was really worried, but hearing you're not the only one really helps Smile

Yesterday I actually had a lot of pressure behind my tummy button, which I can only presume was a bum or head, so I'm wondering if baby is starting to find more room further up his/her bedroom Grin

ha ha. bedroom made me chuckle. well last night mine ranged from fanny tickles to rib punches, no idea at all!

McPhee · 16/03/2012 22:57

Grin fanny tickles..mine aren't really tickles more like fanny poking

So strange I said this to my partner only this afternoon and that I was worried about breech! First baby. 24 weeks yesterday which was confirmed at 20 week scan. Although at my midwife appointment Monday she said after looking at some chart in my notes I’m actually 4 days further on, how?!
