Had miscarriage at 11 weeks jan 1st caused by blighted ovum , just found out pregnant again and scared it will happen again, I phoned doctors to make appointment and had to argue with receptionist to get appointment bout it, now going to see doctor tomorrow in hopes he will send me for scan but think in going to have to argue with him to, has anyone had blighted ovum and then a successful pregnancy?????

Yes, I had a blighted ovum with 1st pg, m/c at 11 weeks just like you. Went on to have 2 successful pgs. Hope everything goes well for you this time. I was very nervous for both my subsequent pgs. I paid for an early scan for one of them (waited till 8.5 weeks so would be sure of seeing heart beat if all was well, which it was). The other time I had a scan at 12 weeks.

Good luck x

Hello - I had a blighted ovum in March 2006, discovered at the 12-week scan. I've since had two successful pregnancies, and have a 4yo and a 17 month old :)

It is so, so hard to accept that the odds are in your favour for a 'take-home' baby at the end of it all, but I found it got a little easier once I got to the 20-week scan and started to feel movement.

Best wishes to you!

Hello - I had a blighted ovum five years ago and a missed miscarriage in february last year at 11 weeks. Am now 33 weeks and still have the odd wobbly moment as NinthWave mentions. With this pregnancy I had a private scan at 10 weeks as I was driving myself mad waiting for 12 weeks. I know how hard it is but try to relax and have faith that all will be well. Lots of love xxx

I had a mmc in June last year at 10 weeks, and got pg again in August (so quite soon, like you). I'm 29 weeks now. I was very wobbly for a long time - it's only in the last month or 2 that I have felt more confident, and that confidence is very easily shaken.

I phoned the EPU direct when I was 5 weeks pg, and arranged a viability scan directly with them for 7 weeks - could you do this in your area? Otherwise, a private scan might set your mind at rest if that is an option for you. Maybe your GP will surprise you, and refer you with no problem.

I hope it all goes well. All you can do is try to sit tight, and maybe distract yourself / sleep / watch crap telly / knit - whatever it takes to pass the time until you can get a scan. It is hard though. At least there are lots of people on MN who understand and will be happy to hold your hand when you need it.

Sussy, I have been in your position too and likewise nobody would listen.

As an ex-midwife might I suggest a simple fib to the GP today - something along the lines of "oh I've had a slight bleed"! You'll be up at the Early Pregnancy Unit before you know it. Wink

Sussy83baby · 20/03/2012 21:30

Went to doctors again today and saw the nice lady doctor who has giving me a letter to go up to the hospital with tomorrow so let's hope they check me over and everything is ok

Fingers crossed for you.

Aworryingtrend · 21/03/2012 17:11

Sussy I hope you get your early scan.

Codandchips as you are an ex-midwife I am surprised and angry that you would suggest someone lie to get to an early scan. NHS resources are precious enough and speaking as someone who just the other day had to wait 4 hours in A&E to be seen by a doctor after a massive bleed, I would have been furious to think that some women were there on false pretences.

Sussy83baby · 21/03/2012 20:17

They checked me over today said everything was looking good but got to go bk tomorrow for scan as they didn't have a slot for today

Hello I know this post is old but I really need help. I had a scan and they couldn’t find anything, they found a sac but no baby and no yolk sac they also couldn’t tell me how far along I was. Do any of you know what this could be? Blighted ovum? Do you think if I went to a&e for a second look would they scan me? Thank you!!
