When did your bump/baby drop?

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and my bump is still high, all my Internet updates and iPhone apps are saying she may have dropped by now!

Also is it gradual or quite a sudden thing?

Mine didn't! MIL kept saying " You won't go into labour yet, your bump hasn't dropped". I went into labour on my due date, with a very high bump, and she was very surprised.

i dont know when mine did but it hadnt a week before my water broke

This is good news i really really don't want to go over my Due date and I assumed she would have to drop before I had a chance of going into labour!

I am 38+4 and baby only 4/5 engaged. Midwife said not to worry some don't engage till your in labour! I was surprised as first baby everyone said will be early drop!

My friend had that she said her mum and partner saw the baby actually drop inside her whilst she was in the hosp!

I'm just glad my high baby doesn't necessarily mean I've longer to wait

I'm not sure I can even tell which way up she is! 34 weeks and still lots of movement. Not sure how to tell when they drop or how they measure in 5ths, hoping the midwife can help next week on that score. Everyone looks surprised and thinks my bump is tiny... now I'm wondering if this means she'll cook longer... does it work that way?!

I think I was 37 weeks, I was walking and all of a sudden I could breathe again! Baby was born at 39+1.

MillyStar · 15/03/2012 09:46

I don't think so katie i know people who've had whoppers late, it doesn't make sense you'd deffo assume that as soon as they're heavy enough they will arrive and the little ones will need a few mote weeks lol

I also know small bumps who've turned out to be whoppers it's amazing how they can hide!

They are brill how they measure in 5ths etc i prod about for ages and can't tell head from tail with my baby but the midwives know straight away, can imagine her in my tummy thinking get offffffff

Gonna feel strange when she does drop!

Mine never dropped and yes, by the end I could barely breathe and had terrible heartburn. I went into labour on my due date before DS engaged properly and my waters didn't go until the midwife broke them at 7cm.

I'm 36w and no droppage get. Baby is breech. I look absurd, it's so high and yet so very very big.
