i am 35 weeks pregnant and my obs. doesnt want to let me go over my due date - (have had some high b/p readings and family history of pre-eclampsia). my midwife tells me that my baby is in the posterior position, and she recommended acupuncture so that i dont have the double whammy of induction and a possible posterior labour.

anyone have any experience with acupuncture in pregnancy and is 36 weeks too early to start for this purpose?

all i can say is my sister had it about 4 days after her due date and it worked! I would wait until 37 weeks to ber on safe side cos before that I think they don't class it as a full term birth do they?

yes, I had a course: first session day before due date, second session a few days later, ds born day after second session. Even if it doesn't work you should get a lovely nights sleep from it! Can recommend a great London (Hackney/Islington) acupuncturist if that is any use? She is also a midwife, so will be able to advice on timings etc.

thanks so much marilla and catgirl

marilla - i am going to take your good advice of waiting 'til 37 weeks, as i had the same feelings about being "full-term".

catgirl: thanks for the offer of your acupuncturist/midwife contact - but i am already booked in with someone who was recommended so i will see how it goes with them first.
