I have never done a patch test whether pregnant or not. Do you mean the dye is still on?

Dozeyland · 11/03/2012 20:32

I've literally just put it on.

I've never done a patch test

I'm 36+5 and have dyed my hair several times this pregnancy, hopefully you'll be as lucky as me and not have any nasty reaction to it, or have hair that comes out an unusual colour Grin

the only time a dye didnt take was when I got my hair done at the hairdresser (they didnt do a patch test either!). They had to quickly dry it and stick another dye on top

Seona1973 · 11/03/2012 20:40

p.s. i was pregnant at the time

I've used Nice and Easy semi permanent for years, but the last application gave me two patches of red, burning, painful scalp. Very odd.

Who has time for patch testing, I squeeze a bit onto my arm, if i dont have an allergic reaction in the time it takes to get my hair dying t-shirt and towel on chances of anaphylactic shock are pretty low!! Im sure all will be fine!!

Allergic reactions are rare but if you have one it can be very very serious. I know of someone who nearly died and is suffering long term health problems because of a reaction to dye. Her consultant recomments a patch test, wait 48 hours, patch test again, wait 48 hours, then dye for complete safety.

thenightsky: if you have already had a minor reaction be very careful, the next time you use dye you could have a much more severe reaction. Don't mean to panic you but it might be worth doing the patch test properly next time.
