Huge already at 15 weeks - anything to worry about?

I am 15 weeks with DC2. I had a big bump with DS, but not this big, and not this early.
I am HUGE. I know everyone probably thinks that, but IMO I really do look about 6-7 months pregnant, with a big, sticky-out bump starting from under my boobs. Shock

It just occurred to me - could this be a sign of there being something wrong? Like too much fluid? I had a 12 week scan which was all normal (no twins!).

Anyone else felt they were just too big for their dates? Will see midwife soon and ask her but in the meantime would be great to hear if anyone else has felt like this/has any info...

I was huge with DD2, started showing at about 7 weeks, apparently I was the right size for dates but carrying much higher up so visually looked bigger if that makes sense

violacayola I know how you feel, I'm 15 wks and feel enormous, but that said I can still wear my biggest pre pregnancy trousers - just about. But I have started having to wear maternity jeans which I didn't have to duo until much later with ds.

pixiepud · 11/03/2012 22:29

I was the same too, i started to show alot earlier and alot more this time round, people thought i was carrying twins, but i think its just normal with the second, third etc babies as your muscles have already been stretched the first time round so i woulnd't worry :)

MumbleMumm · 11/03/2012 22:32

My friend was huge - she was told by her physio it was because her stomach muscles had separated more than the average persons. It didn't help that our pregnancies were a week

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 12/03/2012 01:13

I was ginormous with number 2! When I went for my first scan I was dated at 10 weeks, but was already wearing maternity trousers!

Alligatorpie · 12/03/2012 03:44

I am huge at26 weeks. It s going to be a long 14 weeks with people asking me if I am due yet. I had a scan yesterday and baby is measuring one day from my actual due date, so it's not baby. I am starting to get a bit a bit stressed about losing this weight though. Last time it took me a long time!

ViolaCrayola · 12/03/2012 15:11

Thanks for the replies - very good to know I am not alone :)
A very well meaning friend today said 'you're not huge at all'. But I suggested that his reference point was a very pregnant woman rather than someone who is 3-4 months, and he agreed!

workshy - I think I am carrying higher too - makes you look very large, especially from the side Blush

I am 18 weeks with DC3, and I too look ready to pop!
I have started to struggle to bend down, put on my shoes, get off the sofa! My bump is huge. But I have been the same with each pregnancy. I had lost a lot of weight before this pregnancy,so that I had a bit of leeway, hoping to get further along before it looked like I was having sextuplets.
But I am huge again...sigh.
The good news is I always seem to lose the weight quite quickly after.

9 weeksish and the size of a house here too. I seem to have had a lot more stretchy/twangy type pains than last time too - especially under-bump.

ViolaCrayola · 13/03/2012 12:57

Yes I know what you mean about the stretchy pains Goldrill - under my bump it's really achey and my hip is so sore...

Ah the joys of pregnancy!

I think I am starting to get used to being massive - was just a bit of a shock as it seemed to happen quite suddenly and overnight I became a huge pregnant lady!

At 15 weeks I was properly showing too. At 14 weeks strangers started offering me seats on the tube. Its normal I think! The only thing to be concerned about re:massive bump is gestational diabetes but they test for that at your first MW appointment so no worries

TimothyClaypoleLover · 13/03/2012 15:37

I think with second bumps as well you always compare to first and are usually a lot bigger as already stretched from before. My bump was non existent for ages first time round and this is my second pregnancy and feel absolutely gigantic. Apparently I am measuring fine though but I do feel I am carrying a lot higher this time as well.
