sharp pains in ??cervix....

Am 36 weeks tom and was wakened out of my sleep at 04.00 by sharp pains in what I believe was my cervix!! Had some lower belly discomfort too...finally got bck over to sleep sometime after 5. Any ideas what this could be? Am fine this morning.

Were they like shooting pains? There's something called 'lightning crotch' and it's just all the stretching going on. I had a lot of it, not very nice but harmless.

It could also be your cervix dilating a bit, it's quite common that you can dilate slightly in the late stages of pregnancy, nothing to worry about either. Ask your midwife just to check that everything's ok.

I had this earlier on in the week, and the only I could describe it was like someone was pinching the inside of my foo-foo. Had a midwife appt yesterday who said the baby was engaged, so i thought that would explain the pain.
