I do remember her saying the radiation was just like being in the sun for a couple of hours

the midwife probably wont know to be fair, i would ring the unit that did the bone scan.

I had an xray and cat (I think?) scan at 35 weeks pg. I bloody knew I was pg! But I had to have them - the drs were concerned about my breathing and thought I might have a clot (I didn't). I remember crying because of the effect on the baby and the specialist told me it was the same radiation as a flight to Australia. They covered up the baby with a lead apron for the xray but the scan thing was a full body one iirc. Baby is now 2.5

But call them.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 09/03/2012 16:31

Ok I'm calling them!
Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know what they said.

Right there is no one there at the moment but from what I read on their website; "The DXA scan is very safe and uses a very low dose of x-ray".
I'll call again on Monday.

Thanks for being so kind, this is why mumsnet is great.

I had a scan a while ago, before TTC, the lady asked if I could be pregnant and I said no, but she did say that the radiation is very low and probably wouldn't cause any problems but they are extra cautious. I wouldn't worry too much, but call the unit where you had the scan on Monday

goingmadtrying · 10/03/2012 07:50

im sure you'll be ok i think they are cautious and whether you have the xray depends on the risks of not having it iyswim, i went to dentist when ttc and he asked if i could be pregnant and i said i was trying so he didnt do it because it wasn't necessary, ring again Monday

congratulations :)
