Well this is my 3rd pregnancy and with 2dd I felt proper kicks at 17weeks even dp could feel them. I'm now 18weeks had a few flutters but no kicks and the flutters have stopped. Should I be worried? I found out I'm having a boy are they lazier?

Tia

No advice but exact same situation! Was googling like mad yesterday and consensus seemed to be all babies and pregnancies are different but it is such a worry.

I'm having my 3rd too, and have felt kicks much later and less strongly than with previous two. At my 20 week scan the sonographer said it's because I have an anterior placenta this time (at the front) which cushions the movements making them harder to feel. The baby was moving around like crazy but I could barely feel him! Perhaps you have the same?

I am counting the days to that scan puzzletree. Thanks.

I'm on number 3 currently 37+1...first flutters felt at 15weeks BUT at 20 week scan he was wriggling around and I couldn't feel a thing.

This is my first anterior placenta and my MW said it's like baby kicking a piece of liver so that will definatly cushion some blows!! I think definite feelings for me were 25-28 weeks and even then it was only laying completly flat!!

littlemissnormal · 07/03/2012 12:41

I'm on 3, 30+4 and I don't have an anterior placenta but I'm finding this DS to be a lot lazier and random with the movements than the previous 2.
I will hardly feel anything for 2 days, start to panic then the 3rd day he won't stop moving!
I've now phoned the midwife dept 3 times to arrange a monitor only for the little devil to start moving around like crazy!
I also find he will not move all day but be wriggly at night, and will also be quiet if u don't eat or drink very much.

It is bloody worrying though!

my dc3 is now 5 months, but just wanted to reassure you that I had exactly the same during my pregnancy with her - felt very early kicks with my previous 2 babys, felt flutters during 3rd pregnancy at around 16/17wks, then nothing at all until at least 22wks. Turns out I too had anterior placenta, even at 20wk scan they commented on how much she was wriggling around, but I couldn't feel a thing. So don't panic! It is disconcerting, but each pregnancy is so different.

Also, like littlemissnormal I too felt less movement during my 3rd pregnancy - as my mum said (she meant it kindly!!) "well you've sort of slackened up in there now, so its no surprise there is plenty of space for baby to move around & you don't feel so much movement". Thanks mum!! Also, I suspect that with 2 other kids you don't have time (or energy!) to monitor movements quite as much. I used to take a half hour lie down in the evening after the kids were in bed just to make sure there was good movement going on. Reassured me no end at the end of each day. Good luck - having a 3rd baby was the best thing we ever did, she's lush! x

I had the same thing with dc3. I didn't feel any movements until around 22w at least. Worrying as I'd felt movements a lot earlier with dc2 (definite flutters from 11w). Scan showed an active baby and I couldn't feel any movements. No idea why I couldn't feel them.

ICraveCheese, I felt movements earlier than 20w with dc4.:)

Juule....HA!! Don't tempt me with thoughts of DC4!! If we won the lottery / had a bigger house, I'd love to go for a fourth....but neither are likely to happen before I become too old for another....sigh Sad
