Baby shower?

Just wondering how many of u ladies are having baby showers?
Iv never been to one and not sure how I feel about them. Not sure about the idea of getting people together with the purpose of getting presents!!
Thinking of maybe having a little party and telling people they don't actually have to bring
gifts - and also include men.

What are ur thoughts on showers?

I think as long as they don't revolve around presents then they are ok and a nice chance to get together. But most of the time baby showers just seem too grabby and materialistic, especially since a lot of the time it seems you are then expected to buy another present when the baby is born! I mean what di they do with so much stuff anyway!

I dropped hints with work friends that I wouldn't be keen on a big baby shower as although it would of been nice of them, its just not my cup of tea. I went for a pamper day with my best friends which was lovely as a sort of pre-baby treat Smile

Opps, old thread!

An ex-friend of mine has had two, one where she lives now and one where she used to live for different groups of people. She has a party organiser and has found a 'venue' for her more important one with 40+ people (she made it clear there was a more important one).

She also made a Facebook event page and said 'I don't want presents but dh has said if anyone wants to get anything he would love * vouchers' .

This is why she is an ex-friend.

I had a small shower with both dc's but didn't want one either time and had them organised for me. The people who came have met my children less than 5 times each so it just seems fake.

Oops x2...where did this come from???

I enjoyed going to one for two reasons:

1: awesome cupcakes
2: I got to buy a huge nappy cake

I've always wanted to buy a nappy cake!
